Message from the
Executive Artistic Director
GREAT is proud to bring you the
enchanting children’s story about
a polite little pig that learns how
to look after sheep. This stage play
is based on “Babe, The SheepPig”, a bestselling book that
was published in 1983 and won
the once-in-a-lifetime Guardian
Children’s Fiction Award. In 1995,
the book was then turned into the
captivating and highly successful
film “Babe”.
I love to produce plays featuring characters who become
heroes by being themselves. This message of believing
in yourself is always a joy to share with young audiences
and I hope you are as enchanted as I was when I first read
this book.
Speaking of heroes... don’t forget that it’s time to register
your little hero for a GREAT Summer Theatre Camp. We
added 300 spots this year and will continue to boast that
our summer camps are “the most fun you’ll have indoors
all summer!”

Plot Summary
This is the story of one piglet’s rise to become the world famous “sheep-pig”. When Babe is won by
Farmer Hogget at the village fair an extraordinary friendship develops, one that will change the whole
farm. With the help of his new “mother”, the old dog Fly, Babe fast learns the herding instinct, and
it’s not long before this most polite of pigs wins over the most suspicious of sheep. When the day of
the Grand Challenge Sheep-Dog Trials dawns, the whole farm holds its breath to see whether Babe
will triumph, against all odds, to become the hero of the hour.
