From My Heart...
Have you ever justified doing something wrong
because someone else did it too? Maybe it was
OK to drink a little too much because your friend
did. Maybe you know lots of people who cheat on
tests, so what’s the big deal if you do? Maybe
others have a habit, so if you do the same thing it’s
no big deal.
The idea of “following the crowd” has been around for a while. In
Galatians 2, Peter cared about what some of the prominent Jewish
leaders thought of him so he distanced himself from the non-Jewish
Christians, called Gentiles. As a consequence, other Jewish men
followed Peter’s example and stopped associating with the Gentiles.
Peter’s actions were sinful, and his behavior caused others to
stumble. Whether we want to admit it or not, our bad actions can
influence others to follow us into sin.
Eph 5:1-2 says, “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself
for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor.”
Take some time to examine why you do what you do. We are facing
some tremendous choices in our nation right now. I personally believe
we are facing the most important election possibly since the days of
George Washington! I challenge you to pray about the direction you
choose to go on Election Day. Early voting is underway. If you need
transportation to go vote, call the Church Office and we will arrange
that for you.
I’m not telling you who to vote for…but I am asking one simple, yet
profound question. When you walk out of the Polling Booth, will Christ
be happy with what you have done? You decide!
Then, get excited about this week! HARVEST WEEKEND. Just as an
election can change the attitude and direction of a country, I believe
the HARVEST WEEKEND can literally change our church. Can you
imagine what God could do if for one week we prayed and witnessed
to the people we come in contact with? Let’s try it and see!

NEW WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY
Grace: A Bible Study on Ephesians for Women begins Sunday,
November 6 at 5:00pm in room C-210 (The Mix LifeGroup
Classroom). This is a ten week study and one of the few truly inductive
Bible studies for women by a woman. Its main focus is on helping the
reader understand what the author was saying to the original readers,
the starting point for all fruitful study of Scripture. Childcare provided.
HARVEST WEEKEND
NOVEMBER 5-6
We’re pulling out “all the stops” to make
this a great weekend. We’re planning the
largest Fall Festival in the history of
Woodland Hills. Food, games, music,
door prizes and lots more! One blessed
family will receive a $500 gift card. You must register on Saturday
night and be present Sunday morning to win. You cannot be a
member of Woodland Hills…this is to reach people
who are not already members. So start inviting all
your friends and prospects to be a part of that.
Dr. Don Whitt, Evangelist from Milan, Tennessee
will be our guest Sunday morning. It’s one great
service to see many, many people come to know
Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
CONNECTION CLASS
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2 AT 6:00PM
Are you new to Woodland Hills? Maybe you are curious about what we
believe, or are vision, values, and the way that we carry out ministry?
Maybe you have been attending Woodland Hills for a while, but you
want to know how to take the next step to get more involved.
We want to invite you to attend ‘Connection’ where we will cover these
vital topics. You will also get a chance to tour the facilities so that you
will never get lost again. You will gain all the information to take the
next step and get involved in serving and using your gifts here at
WHBC. Come join Bro. Kase in the Conference Room, and bring any
questions that you have and we will do our best to answer.
