CAFNR Student Appeal Process

CAFNR Student
Appeal Process
The Office of Academic Programs carefully reviews each student's academic record before declaring
the student ineligible for continued enrollment with the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural
Resources. If you feel you have very strong grounds for readmission to CAFNR even though you did
not make satisfactory academic progress last semester, you may appeal. However, because your
appeal may not be approved, you should consider and explore alternative options.
To request re-enrollment with CAFNR, you must submit your appeal to the Office of Academic
Programs in 2-64 Agriculture Building by mail or e-mail (address below).
It is important that you include all relevant information in your appeal letter as this may be your
only opportunity to state your case for readmission.
Your letter should be addressed to Dr. Bryan Garton, Associate Dean, and must include each of the
following items:

Name, student number, MU e-mail address and preferred phone number.

Career objective(s), intended major, and why you want to pursue this major.

Circumstances regarding your cumulative and term GPAs.

How you plan to change habits or circumstances to avoid the same problem in the future be specific.

Your current faculty advisor and any other faculty member who has been advising you, as
well as information on how often you communicated with them and in what manner
(phone, e-mail, meeting, etc.).

Any relevant documentation (medical, etc.).
You may e-mail your letter to [email protected] or you may mail it to:

The Associate Dean will review your letter, transcripts, and any supporting documents provided.
While we understand that you are anxious to learn the status of your appeal, please do not contact
our office multiple times as this significantly slows down the process and delays our response.
Please be assured that we do review all correspondence received and will respond in a timely
manner.
