With the passing of new health and safety legislation in April this year there has
been an increased focus on health and safety matters by the Board of Trustees
and our school staff. We are reviewing policies and procedures and on Monday
afternoon teachers attended a Health and Safety meeting organised by the Ministry of Education.
INQUIRY LEARNING WITH DIGITAL DEVICES
Our teacher professional development focus on student Inquiry Learning using digital devices
continues this week with teachers being released from class to work with CORE education facilitator Mike Perry.
MOBILE DENTAL CLINIC VISIT
We have had a large number of parents/caregivers wanting to have children’s teeth checked.
We are hoping that the mobile dental clinic will be in our school during Term 3.

PREP (PRIMARY ENTERPRISE PROGRAMME) UPDATE
We want our students to develop entrepreneurial skills. According to
Peter Drucker (Modern business educator)
‘An entrepreneur searches for change, responds to it and exploits
opportunities. Innovation is a specific tool of an entrepreneur hence
an effective entrepreneur converts a source in to a resource.
The PrEP government endeavoured to pass 5 important laws. This
year laws must be passed by the Council of class representatives. A
standard $20 weekly wage for workers and a profit tax of 15% were
two laws passed by the class representatives.
‘All about me’ Lilly by Lilly Yr 8
However, a basic import tax on expensive items of 5% and a start up
venture grant of $15 per worker failed to get class representative support.
Prime Minister Owen and the government team were also upset that the $75 weekly government member pay was also turned
down.
Banking Positions A number of year 6—8 students are currently applying for banking positions.
DANCESPLASH PRACTICES
Students keen to be part of Dance splash in Term 3 have started rehearsing with coaches Jenni Thwaites, Sue Leask and
parent Roni Saul.
ANZAC DAY SERVICE
It was very special to see Roseneath School families at the ANZAC day service at our school memorial. St Barnabus Church
always do a fine job organising the service. Our thanks to children who placed poppies on the memorial, our Chairperson
Richard Powell who opened the service and to Cameron Powell who laid flowers on behalf of our school.
MISSING SCOOTER
Unfortunately Rowan in Lower bridge left his black and silver scooter at school on the weekend and had it taken. Please let
me know if you can help Rowan recover his scooter. This is the second scooter taken over a weekend.
Please remember to take scooters home at the end of each day.
QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY APOLOGY
In our last newsletter we gave an incorrect date for the Queen’s Birthday Holiday. It should
have read Monday 6 June.

The troll is hungry and the troll will not let them go across
the bridge. The billy goats are hungry because they do not
have any grass. On the other side there is way more grass.

On the way Dorothy saw the Tin Man. She saw an oil tank.
She put it on his back and his arms.
By James Year 1
Dorothy is a young girl that lived in Kansas. She met a scarecrow
first, a Tin Man second and Lion third.
They went through a forest… and then they got to the Emerald City.
Lots of concentration in Lower Deck
It was a long journey to Emerald City. It took them about 23 hours. Hooray Dorothy!
By Sophia Year 2
Dorothy is kind and helpful, caring and brave, friendly and smart.
She stands up for her friends. When they need help she will help them.
I love Dorothy…and now you know why.
By Isobel Year 2
Dorothy is a young, nice girl. On the way to the Wizard of Oz she met the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion. Dorothy has a dog
called Toto. It has brown fur. Dorothy is from Kansas. But one day her house got whirled away because of a hurricane. She went
on a long journey from Kansas. She meets the Scarecrow first, then she meets the Tin Man, last she meets the Lion
The Scarecrow needs a brain, the Tin Man needs a heart, also the Lion needs some courage.
The reason why Dorothy is helpful, kind and careful is because she helped all of the nice characters.
Dorothy actually had grey shoes but they changed to red shoes because the red shoes would go better with the yellow
brick road.

The lion needs courage because he doesn’t have a heart.
