Product description
The Mitos Sensor Display provides a flexible system for measuring and displaying microscale flow rate. The Mitos Sensor Display interfaces with flow rate sensors and provides a
USB (to PC) and visual output.
Each Mitos Sensor Display can be used interchangeably with the Mitos Flow Rate
Sensors (Part Nos. 3200096-3200100), the sensors simply attach with a push-click action.
There are 6 different sensors which can interface with the Mitos Sensor Display, 5 Flow
Rate Sensors covering different ranges.
Mitos Sensor Display (Part No. 3200095) with Mitos Flow
Rate Sensor (Part No. 320096) attached
The Mitos Flow Rate Sensors enable fast and accurate measurements of ultra low liquid
flow rates. The high precision thermal sensor technology provides total media isolation
and very low internal volume with no moving parts. All measurement data is fully
calibrated and temperature compensated by means of an internal microcontroller.
Excellent chemical resistance and bio-compatibility are also ensured.
The Mitos Flow Rate Sensors are compatible with the Mitos P-Pump (Part No.3200016).
The Mitos P-Pump communicates directly with the flow sensors and can log the flow rate
data. See “Using the Mitos Sensor Units with the Mitos P-Pump range” section.
Dolomite’s Mitos Flow Rate Sensors are available in a mixed pack of 3 (Part No.
3200244). Please select the Flow Rate Sensors you require and specify your selection
when placing the order. Please contact us for more information.

Mitos Sensor Interface
The Mitos Sensor Interface (Part No. 3200200) provides a cost-effective alternative to the
Mitos Sensor Display featuring a circular multi-pin interface cable for connection to the
Mitos P-Pump range allowing flow rate data to be read by the Mitos P-Pump software.
It can be used with any Mitos Flow Rate Sensor (Part Nos. 3200096 - 3200100) which
simply attach with a push-click action.
All the other features of the Mitos Sensor Interface are the same as for the Mitos Sensor
Display (Part No. 3200095) to provide users with a flexible system for measuring and
micro-scale flow rate.

Connecting the Sensor Unit to the Mitos P-Pump
The Mitos Flow Rate Sensor simply attaches to the Mitos Sensor Display with a push-click
action. Once connected to a Mitos Flow Rate Sensor, the display can be used as a
standalone device (picture left) or sit on top of the Mitos P-Pump (picture top left).

P-Pump as a standalone device

P-Pump
The supplied USB lead can be used to link the Mitos Sensor Display to the Mitos P-Pump.
Similarly, the attached circular multi-pin interface cable can be used to link the Mitos
Sensor Interface to the Mitos P-Pump. This enables the flow control and flow rate
monitoring functionality.
Closed-loop Flow Control
Closed-loop flow control is an enhancement to the Mitos P-Pump system for improved
control of flow rates from 70 nl/min to 5 ml/min. It requires that a Mitos Flow Rate Sensor
(Part No. 3200096 – 3200100) is connected in-line between the pump and the microfluidic
device. Once the pump detects that a flow rate sensor is connected, the flow control
menu options are enabled. A target flow rate can then be set on the P-Pump and the
pump pressure is automatically adjusted to meet the target flow rate.
The key benefits of closed-loop flow control are:



Control flow rates instead of pressure making experiments easier to set-up and
optimise.
Improved flow rate precision: even better control over introduction of micro-scale
reagent volumes.
Ideal for droplet generation: higher long-term droplet monodispersity in flow
control mode compared with pressure control mode.
