The Cell is like…

The Cell is like…
(a cell simile poster)
A good way to understand something new is to compare it to something you already know. GENIUS!
Your task is to pick something you are familiar with and compare it to the cell. Could be a city, or a football
field, or a car…whatever you like. You need to be sure that your comparison makes sense, just like how the cell
works together.
Each organelle we have talked about in class should be represented on your poster. With each organelle
should be a statement of why the simile works (remember, a simile uses like or as)
For example:
The nucleus is like the principal’s office because the principal‘s office controls
the school just like the nucleus controls the cell.
Included on your poster should be:
 Nucleus
 Nucleolus
 Nuclear Membrane
 Cytoplasm
 Endoplasmic Reticulum
 Vacuole
 Lysosome
 Cell Membrane
 Mitochondria
 Golgi Body
 Ribosome
 Chloroplast
 Cell Wall
