In light of the decision taken at the Third Meeting of COMSTECH, held at Islamabad
and endorsed by the Fifth Islamic Summit held in Kuwait, the Inter Islamic Network
on Space Sciences and Technology (ISNET) was establihed in 1987 as an
inter-governmental, non political and non-profit agency.
ISNET functions as an independent, autonomous and self-governing institution
under the umbrella of the Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and
Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation
(OIC).
Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) hosts the
network at its headquarters in Karachi, Pakistan.
ISNET conducts of short and long training courses, workshops, seminars and expert
meetings in OIC member countries on a wide range of topics some of which are
listed below.
