Tree Cross Section
Cross section of a Bald Cypress tree cut in southeast Virginia in 1998. The object
is on loan from Dennis B. Blanton to the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation. Size:
approximately 37 inches in diameter. The labels identify dates for specific growth
rings (from center outward): 1404, 1504, 1607 founding of Jamestown, 1704,
1804, and 1904.
