All walks are vetted beforehand to ensure their suitability. Walkers are Welcome insurance
covers public liability but is not an accident insurance and all walkers must be aware that
they walk at their own risk. It is up to individuals to know their capabilities and limitations.
The walk leader may refuse to allow anyone to participate in a walk if considered unfit for
the walk or not wearing suitable clothing and footwear. That said, the objective is to enjoy
walking.

Good Friday 14th April: Inns of Boroughbridge. Start in St James’s Square at 10.30am.
A tour of the town and across the river to look at the Inns and Brewery that sprang up around this
important bridge on the Great North Road. Length 1mile (1.5km), suitable for all.
Sponsored by: The Black Bull a CAMRA pub and Winner of the Harrogate and Ripon
Pub of the Season Competition. Pop in for lunch or a drink afterwards.

Good Friday 14th April: The Bronte Walk. Starting from Gt Ouseburn Village Hall at
2.00pm. This pleasant walk of approximately 3 miles (5km), looks at the surprising association
of the Brontes with this part of Yorkshire. Sponsored by: Rudgate Brewery ‘Beer on T’Brigg’

Good Friday 14th April: Ghost Walk of Boroughbridge. Discovering characters and
legends from the town’s past. Led by ‘The Hightimers’ and starting from St James’s Square at
7.30 pm, the walk is, approximately 1 mile (1.5km), lasting 1 hour…. and full of surprises! With

Easter Sunday 16th April: Marton le Moor Parish Walk. Starting at 10.00am at
Marton le Moor Meeting Room, HG4 5AT. The walk is 4 miles long, (7 km) lasting about
2½ hours with a breakpoint after 2 miles, and with no obstacles, fences or stiles, although
the tracks will be rutted and potentially muddy. We will be exploring the history of the
village and its parish to give an insight into our community’s past. The walk will be led by
local resident Ken Harrison.

Easter Sunday 16th April: Roman Ramble. Walk off your Sunday lunch with a 3
mile (5km) walk in the footsteps of the Romans. The start is at 2.00pm from the Ship Inn at
Aldborough. We will be joined by a member of ‘The Friends of Roman Aldborough’ who
will answer questions. There will also be a chance to visit the English Heritage Museum

Easter Monday 17th April: Map Reading.
A short walk of 2-3miles (3-5km)
around Kirby Hill/Langthorpe. The walk starts in the Picnic Area in Langthorpe, by the
bridge at 10.00am. This is a chance for novices and beginners to learn or brush up their
map reading skills using a 1:25,000 Ordnance Survey map (Provided). Sponsored by:

at Coronation Hall Milby (Boroughbridge), close to Canal Garage. There will be over 20 real

Easter Saturday 15th April: Town Treasure Hunt. Start in the centre of the town at
Boroughbridge Community Library from 10.00am Walk length approx. 1mile (1.5km) on paved
footpaths. A relaxed fun walk around the attractive town of Boroughbridge. Discover hidden
corners and secrets and, of course, solve the clues to win prizes. Vote for your favourite shop

A circular walk, starting from Myton Church at 2.00pm and covering 4 miles (6.5km). Of
special interest is the history of the village and the conservation area, including the site of
the famous ‘White Battle’ in 1319. The walk concludes with Afternoon Tea (donations to

Boroughbridge Community Library will be open in the morning. Photographs will
be on display about the History of Boroughbridge and the River Ure from the Boroughbridge

Easter Saturday 15th April: Rabbit Hill Walk. Starting at the Rabbit Hill Country Store
on the A168 (HG5 0FF) at 2.00pm, this walk along footpaths and over stiles takes walkers
through hidden valleys up to Marton cum Grafton, across the moor and back. The walk is 5 miles
(8km).
