The Art Show
The Annual Art show took place
in July. Art students at GCSE, AS
and A2 level had the unique
opportunity to exhibit their work.
The show celebrates the hard
work of our excellent students.
The winners were Georgina
Rose, Year 11; Ellie Smith, Year
12 and Zoe Pillar, Year 13. . Well
done to everyone involved!
We welcomed Sir Peter Luff to our Speech Day in July where
he presented prizes to students for outstanding effort and
achievement during the year.
Interact : Bridge The Gap Students from local schools were invited to create a paper chain in a bid to link the new Abbey Bridge with the old Workman Bridge. Members of the Interact Club helped to co‐
ordinate the chains made at PHHS which saw the Evesham Rotary Club raise a staggering £2,200 for various local causes. Visit to the Battlefields
In June some Year 9 pupils visited First World War
battlefields and memorials in Belgium and France. At
The Vimy Ridge Museum and Memorial they
witnessed the devastating effect the war had made
on the French landscape and were given the
opportunity to look around the trenches.
The
students then travelled to the Tyne Cot Cemetery in
Belgium, the largest war cemetery in the world. This
powerfully moving experience walking amongst a
sea of graves made the students reflect on the
sacrifices those young men had made for our
freedom.
The
Memorial
Museum
at
Passchendaele was very informative and
followed by a visit to Langemark, a cemetery for
German soldiers. At least twenty soldiers were
buried under each engraved slab, and
twenty-two thousand men were laid to rest
under a giant tomb at the entrance to the
cemetery. The students also visited the ‘In Flanders Fields’ Museum and
experienced a Last Post Memorial
Ceremony at the spectacular Menin
Gate. A visit to Essex Farm Cemetery
where some of the youngest fallen
soldiers, one only fifteen years of age, are
buried was extremely thought provoking.
The final stop was at The Talbot House
Museum in Poperinge which is where the
allied soldiers stayed before moving onto
the frontline.
ATHLETICS
It has been a very busy year for the
athletes at Prince Henry’s. Yet again we
managed to retain the Priest Cup,
fighting off competition from Evesham
High and Pershore High. As a result of
winning the Priest Cup, both the junior
boys’ and girls’ teams qualified to
compete at the Summer School Games.
Prince Henry’s Team represented South
Worcestershire and competed against
other Districts.
There were some
outstanding individual performances on
the day, in addition to the huge team
effort which placed them in fourth
position. However, some exceptional
performances over the athletics
season give every reason for Prince
Henry’s to expect even more success
this year.
Particular congratulations
should go to Catherine Vose who
qualified for three events at the
Regional round of the athletics at the
Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. Well
done to all Prince Henry’s
athletes who have competed this year.

The competition opened in June with the Year 10 entrants making a range of delicious desserts
and fighting for a place in the Semi Finals. The dishes ranged from Banoffee Pie to Raspberry
Tarts. The contestants raised the stakes further in the semi finals with a variety of
dishes from a Trio of Desserts to Lemon Curd Tarts and Strawberry Cheesecake.
The Year 9 entrants were preparing a savoury dish. The judges tasted the dishes
and quizzed the teams about ingredients and cooking skills. The cook offs started
with dishes like Carbonara and Ricotta Stuffed Chicken. In the final the judges
really found it hard to pick a winner, the dishes were beautifully presented from each year group
and the judges commented that they would be prepared to pay for any of the meals in a
restaurant. In the end for Year 9, Bradley Thomson and Jack Ricketts won with their
Mediterranean Pork with Roasted Vegetables and a Pineapple and Chilli Salsa. For Year
10 Jess Thomas, Amber Rees and Lola Gisbourne were the winners with their Chocolate
