Soda Fizz

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
• Which soda stays fizziest the longest?
RESEARCH
• Summarize your research here in three to five significant facts:
– Research says that coke will stay fizzier
– Regular coke takes 85 minutes to lose all its fizz
– Diet coke takes 58 minutes to lose its fizz
– Sprite takes 65 minutes to lose its fizz

HYPOTHESIS
• If I use Coke, Root Beer, Grape, and Kiwi Strawberry soda then coke
will stay fizzy the longest because my research says that coke stays
fizzier the longest.
PROCEDURE: MATERIALS
• One can of Coca Cola
• One can of A and W Root Beer
• One can of Shasta Grape
• One can of Dr. Pepper
• 4 clear tall glasses
• Timer
• Notebook
PROCEDURE: STEPS
1. Open each can of soda
2. Pour each soda into separate glasses
3. Set the timer
4. Check each soda every ten minutes
5. Write down about how much fizz each soda has
6. After 30 minutes taste each one and write down what it tasted like
VARIABLES
• Constants: time, temperature, glasses, and cans
• Controlled variables: the time I check to see if a soda(s) have lost
their fizz
• Independent (manipulated) variable: the different types of soda
• Dependent (measured) variable: the time it took for each soda to lose
its fizz
DATA/OBSERVATIONS
Started at 6:41 p.m.
• 7:02 p.m. after 20 minutes root beer as plenty of fizz left, grape has
not that much, coke and dr. pepper have very little left
• 7:12 p.m. after 30 minutes dr. pepper as a tiny little bit left, coke
tastes like it doesn’t have any, grape tastes like it has less than dr.
pepper but looks like it has more, and root beer tastes like it doesn’t
have hardly any but looks like it has a lot
CONCLUSION
• My problem was answered very clearly
• My hypothesis was not correct because research said that coke keeps
its fizz longer, but my observations stated that root beer had a lot
more fizz left after coke didn’t have hardly any left
