By Gavin, 4G Click here to view the l ink to photo slideshow Day 1 Monday In the morning on the first day, we went on a bus to Ipoh. There were two buses, one for Group A, and one for Group B. I was in Group A. We went on a three‐hour long bus ride to get to Ipoh. When we got there, we went to Roots Resort, and we went to the river to find minibeasts. Then we went to identify them. We caught some fish, “water snails”, and pond skaters. Next, we panned for tin in the river, and it was really hard because the tin was really small and it was hidden in the sand. After we collected the tin, we had lunch. After lunch, we went to the Orang Asli Village. When we got there, we went to a house where a villager showed us some animal traps, one for a chicken, one for a monkey, and one for a wild boar. After that, we went to a “shop”. We shot at a target with a blowpipe, and we wove a bracelet with leaves. Then we went back to Roots and Group B was back. Then we had free time, and dinner. After dinner we went back to our cabin and we had Flashlight Wars. One by one, we fell asleep. I stayed up the longest! Day 2 Tuesday The next day, Group A had to wake up at SIX THIRTY! We got up and got ready for breakfast, which was seven o’clock. After breakfast, we got ready for a trip to Kuala Gula. We went on a two‐hour long trip to get to the first stop: a bird sanctuary. We watched a video that showed us different species of birds. Next, we went to the mini museum next to the movie theater and had a scavenger hunt. I won and got three cookies! After the scavenger hunt, we went to a boathouse and got on a boat. We looked for birds and animals, and I found all thirty! Then we tied the boats to poles sticking out of the water and ate lunch: a scrumptious beef burger. Next, we went to a mangrove swamp, where we got off the boat to plant a propagule, which is a mangrove seed. We had to plant it in mud. After we planted the mangroves, we went back to the boats and went to the buses. We got back to Roots and it was the end of the day. We showered and had free time before we had dinner. Then we had a surprise: a fashion show! We made costumes out of leaves for the “stars”. Me and George were the music directors, and we sang “Waving Flag”. After the fashion show we had an even better surprise: A CAMPFIRE!!!!! We had delicious marshmallows and eventually, we had to go to bed. I stayed up the longest AGAIN. Yay! Day 3 Wednesday In the morning we got to wake up at seven thirty! Hooray! After breakfast we went on the bus and went to the bantu cave paintings. We had to climb up so many stairs! When we (Finally!) got to the top we saw the cave paintings. We did some activities and we went back to the buses. We went on another bus ride and got to Kellie’s Castle. We had a scavenger hunt and the Eco Field Trip people kept on trying to scare us. Kellie was a man who mysteriously vanished and his castle is said to be haunted. Visitors claimed to have seen ghosts there. Then after the scavenger hunt we went back to the bus. We got back to school and went home. The End For assembly: Day 1 On the first morning, my group went straight to Roots Resort, and we went to the river to find minibeasts. Then we had to identify them.
