The Lame Shall Walk Again
“Your child will never walk, run, or care for himself. He will be a quadriplegic for life.”
Israel’s mother listened to the words of the doctors in shock and grief as they
1
delivered the terrible news that her one year old son had polio and would never have
the use of his limbs.
“No!” She said in her heart. “My son will walk! God will heal him!” The doctors had
scheduled Israel for three different tests over a period of 40 days. His mother vowed
that she would not eat food, and drink only water for 40 days and pray without
ceasing that Israel would be healed.
Two tests were performed with no improvement and the doctors urged her to stop
her fast and give up, but she refused. Shortly, before the third test God answered
her prayers and Israel was healed! Today he walks with a limp, but he has full
control of his arms and his life bears testimony to the power of prayer, the love of his
mother, and her faith and trust in God. His mother prayed that he would be
independent, but she now wishes she had prayed for his complete healing.
Israel Prasad is the Director of Jesus for Asia India and Nepal and manages
many projects all over India. He joined JFA as a Bible worker in 2006 and because
of his ability to speak English, he quickly became a tremendous asset to the
ministry. He also speaks fluent Tamil, and some Hindi and Telugu.
Before becoming a Bible Worker for Jesus for Asia, Israel worked in a call center
making $500 a month. The job required him to work on Sabbaths, but he was not
fully converted at the time and continued working to please some of his family, while
praying for God to find him something else. When the opportunity came to become a
JFA Bible worker he immediately accepted even though his pay would be reduced to
just $25/month!
Israel is an incredible man of faith and an inspiration to everyone on our team. He
loves working for God and seeing the Gospel going forward in India, but most of all
he loves working with the children at the orphanage and at the evening schools. His
home is in Chennai where his mother and dog Toby also reside. He loves to have
fun, and is an excellent cricket bowler. We are very blessed to have him as a
2
member of our JFA family!
God Heals the Printer
Ouachita Hills Academy has been in India during the month of March doing an
evangelistic series sponsored by Jesus for Asia and the local conference. Nine
students and two staff members have been speaking in three locations and God is
really blessing their work!
The team brought a color printer with them so they could copy the handouts to pass
out at the meetings. Pastor Sam Soler set up the printer and plugged it in. There
was a pop and a puff of smoke came out of the machine! He had accidentally
plugged the printer into 220 volt power without a converter! Machines in the United
States are designed to run 110 volts and are destroyed if plugged in to 220.
Pastor Sam called Director Israel to inquire about getting the machine fixed or
getting it replaced as soon as possible because they needed to make copies for the
meetings. He called the students together and they prayed earnestly that God would
remedy the situation.
Later in the day, a couple of Indian pastors showed up to take the printer to a repair
shop, but first requested that we try using their laptop to print something. Apparently
they thought the problem was that Pastor Sam's laptop and printer were not
communicating and maybe theirs would. He told them they didn’t even have the
right driver for it, but they were so eager he decided to humor them.
Just to make sure it did not get damaged any further, they hooked it up to the
converter, and lo and behold, the light went on! Of course they were not able to print
anything, but Pastor Sam quickly hooked it to his laptop and it began printing! How
wonderful to see God take care of this need in such a significant way! The miracle
3
printer is being donated to JFA so it can continue to be a blessing and help the
Gospel go forward.

Mission Awareness
Now a season is coming when we shall have our principles tested. Let us begin to think what we
can do for God’s needy ones. We can make them through ourselves the recipients of God’s
blessings. Think what widow, what orphan, what poor family you can relieve, not in a way to
make a great parade about the matter, but be as a channel through which the Lord’s substance
shall flow as a blessing to His poor… AH 474
