(See Below) 4 Hinge Bracelets Small Medium Large ID = 2 ¼” X 2” (57.15mm X 50.8mm) +/- .030” (.77mm) ID = 2 ½” X 2” (63.5mm X 50.8mm) +/- .030” (.77mm) ID = 2 ¾” X 2” (69.85mm X 50.8mm) +/- .030” (.77mm) Hinge bracelet opening = 1 ¼” (31.75mm) minimum to 1 ¾” (44.45mm) maximum 1 ¼” Hinge bracelets must be able to be opened 1 ¼” (31.75mm) minimum to 1 ¾” (44.45mm) maximum and released returning to their original position without any distortion to the hinge or looseness to the “snap” action of the hinge. The metal part of the back (top) of the hinge should touch so that the bracelet will not open more than 1 ¼” (31.75mm). This will help the spring hinge to retain its tension. 5 Slide Bracelets Medium ID = 2 ½” X 2 ¼” (63.5mm X 57.15mm) +/- .030” (.77mm) Large ID = 2 ¾” X 2 9/16” (69.85mm X 65.08mm) +/- .030” (.77mm) Gap opening = 1 3/8” (34.92mm) minimum to 1 7/16” (36.51mm) maximum Check slide bracelet function by depressing the closure mechanism and pulling the two sides away from each other. The bracelet should slide open easily to 1 3/8” (34.92mm) minimum to 1 7/16” (36.51mm) maximum. To close, gently push the two sides together. The center bar should slide smoothly inside and an audible “snap” should be heard when completely closed. 6 Linear Bracelets (pertaining to, or resembling a line) Overall length includes closure. International Exclusive: 7” (177.80mm) +/- ¼” (6.35mm) 7” (177.80mm) + ¼” (6.35mm) – 0 (This is the only length to use for Sterling) 7 ¼” (184.15mm) +/- ¼” (6.35mm) 7 ½” (190.50mm) +/- ¼” (6.35mm), same for UK, for Europe tolerance is -0 , + ¼”. 8” (203.20mm) +/- ¼” (6.35mm) Anklet’s 9” (228.60mm) to 11” (279.40mm), if adjustable 9 ½” (241.30mm), if non-adjustable Linear bracelet closures must be checked for function. For Lobster Claw, Spring Ring or Sister Hook see functional testing in specifications and test methods. Foldovers must be adjusted for proper hold. With the foldover facing upwards, take each end and grip tightly in your hand. Simultaneously pull apart and move the clasp in an up and down motion. The clasp should not open up. If the clasp opens, it would need to be adjusted tighter. An audible “snap” can be heard when the clasp is adjusted properly. For box & tongue closures, test function by depressing the tongue lever downward and pull outward from the box. The tongue should then be able to be inserted back into the box with a smooth feel and a “snap” that is heard when fully closed. 7 Toggle and ring styles must be made so that the toggle bar over hangs the edge of the ring (when the toggle is pushed to the center of the opposite side) by 1/8” (3.18mm) minimum. This is to ensure that the bar is long enough so it will not slip out of the ring while being worn. Toggle type bracelets are measured from the underside of the bar to the ¾” (19.05mm) mark of the toggle ring. 8 Stretch Bracelets Round The elastic cord used on stretch bracelets has double or triple elastic interior with a woven fabric exterior sleeve which restricts extension to it’s failure point. The hole size in the beads must be large enough such that when the elastic is relaxed, the beads slide over the fabric without the fabric binding. The knot must be hidden and glued inside one bead. The elastic should be tight enough to prevent seeing any space between the beads when the bracelet is placed on the arbor or as viewed in-case. The elastic should be flexible enough to allow expansion of no less than 3” (76.20mm) and up to 3 ½” (88.90mm). The inside diameter in the relaxed position is 2 ¼” (57.15mm) +/- 1/8” (3.18mm). 9 Oval The inside diameter in the relaxed position is 2” X 2 ½” (50.80mm X 63.50mm) +/- 1/8” (3.18mm). The bracelet must then stretch out to 3” (76.20mm) minimum to 3 ½” (88.90mm) maximum and once released the elastic must go back to the original position without any catching or kinking into the holes of the model being used. Vendors must ensure that the holes for the elastic are large enough to accommodate the correct elastic. No excess elastic can be visible. The elastic should be a standard fabric one that can be purchased from: Rhode Island Textile Company P.O. Box 999 Pawtucket, RI 02862 Contact: Sandy Newborn Phone: 401-722-3700 ext. 124 There are 2 sizes that we use: #13915 1/32” (0.79mm) 10 #13124 1/16” (1.59mm) Suppliers may submit their own source of elastics for approval. They must supply a 6” sample plus an assembled sample using the subject elastic for testing. Clear elastic is allowable to be used only on bracelets with components (i.e. pearls) with holes too small for the smallest fabric coated elastic. Elastic Colors need to match Plating as Follows: Gold Plating~ Cream color elastic or similar to Pantone 7501C Silver/Imm Rhodium Plating~ Gray color elastic or similar to Pantone 427C Hematite Plating~ Black Color elastic Bronze~ Brown color elastic or similar to pantone 462C 11 Stretch Toggle If the bracelet is laid out flat, the standard length should measure approximately 7” (177.80mm) from toggle bar to ¾” (19.05mm) of toggle ring; this would make the ID when closed about 2 1/8” (53.98mm), which is within the standard of 2 ¼” (57.15mm) +/- 1/8” (3.18mm). Jump rings used to attach the toggle bar and ring must be soldered. Stretch toggle bracelets must be shipped in the closed position. 12 Magnetic End Construction for Bracelets The ends for magnetic bracelets need to be constructed with a top and a bottom that are cut horizontally. Please do not construct bracelets with a vertically cut end that has flat magnets. This construction is not reliable. It is also important to add a “lock”. This can be achieved either by creating a raised piece of metal on the inside of the top section or by gluing the magnet in a shallow cavity allowing it to protrude by 1/8” (3.18mm) Top and bottom Construction Raised metal inside top for lock Channel on bottom for raised top metal pc to lock into In cases when the design of the end casting is smooth, for example a round ball, it is important to add a notch to the side for EZ opening. 13
