The Senate has impeached
Embu Governor Martin Wamb
ora in a majority vote.
Thirtyfive senators voted in
support of a Motion to remove
the Governor from office,
while Baringo Senator Gideon
Moi voted against the removal.
There was one abstention.
This is the second time Mr
Wambora is being impeached
after the High Court quashed
the first attempt on grounds
that a court order that halted
the exercise was ignored.
Mr Wambora was accused
of violating the Public Procure
ment and Disposal Act, Public
Finance Management Act as
well as the Constitution.
Special committee of Senate
recommended the impeach
ment ofthe Embu Governor.

Mr Justice Mwongo yester
day ruled that it would be un
lawful to stop a legislative organ
from performing its functions
in public interest.
Although he acknowledged
that Mr Wambora's case against
the Senate raised weighty issues,
the judge said that the petition
Khalwale who had chaired the
special committee, while asking
the House to approve the Mo
tion, said that they had found
sufficient grounds to believe
that Mr Wambora had grossly
violated the laws.
Yesterday, Embu residents
moved to court to stop Mr
Wambora's removal, claiming
the County Assembly did not
involve them in the process in
line with the Constitution.
er had not demonstrated how he
would suffer if Senators carried
on with the impeachment.
