1. Markandcutjeans,noveltyfabric,andbatting.
• Mark1"beyondthepocketliningonbothsidesandbottomedgeofjeansfront,wrongside.
• Cutalongmarkingstomakethepocketmittsection.
Note: Denim Pocket Mitts will vary in size depending on the size of the blue jeans.
• CutboththeQuiltedIronQuickandNoShiftBattingthesamesizeasthepocketmittsection.
• Cutthenoveltyfabricsection1"longeratthetopthanthepocketmittsection.
2. Preparefabriclayersandquilt.
• MeetthewrongsideofthenoveltyfabrictothesilversideoftheQuiltedIronQuick,aligningsidesandbottomedges.Pinorclip
edges.
• QuiltlayerstogetherfollowingthequiltedlinesontheQuiltedIronQuick.
• LayertheNoShiftBattingonthewhitelayeroftheQuiltedIronQuick.Thenplacethedenimmitttothenoveltyfabric,rightsides
together,aligningsidesandbottomedges.
• Turn1"extensiononnoveltyfabrictothewrongsideofthedenimmitt.Pinorclip.
• Stitchthesidesandbottomedge.

• Trimseamsandcorners.
• Wrapthetopextensionofnoveltyfabricoverthetopedgeofthebatting.
• Turnmittrightsideout.UseaBambooPointerCreaserfornicesquarecorners.
4. Edgestitchthecompletedmitt.
• SetupsewingmachinewithJeansStitchThread;itisaheavierthread.
Note: Use a heavier weight Jeans Stitch Thread in both the needle and bobbin for decorative stitching. Use a lighter weight, all-purpose
thread in the bobbin if the seam is hidden and won’t show on the finished project.
• ReplaceregularneedlewithaTopstitchNeedle,whichhasalargergrooveorindentationontheshaftoftheneedlewherethe
threadrests.TheTopstitchNeedlealsohasalargereyesothatyouareabletouseheavierthread.
• EdgestitchtheoutsideedgesofthepocketmittusingPresserFootSpacers.PresserFootSpacershelpthepresserfootclimbover
bulkyseams.Theykeepstitchesconsistentwithoutskippedstitches.Repeatprocessforasecondmitt.
Place your hand in the original jean’s pocket to use the mitt. The mitt works great for grilling!
Denim Pocket Pot Holder
1. Markandcutjeans,noveltyfabric,andbatting.
• CentertheGetSquaredRuleroverthebackpocketandcutan8½"square.
• Cutan8½"squareeachofQuiltedIronQuick,noveltyfabric,andNoShiftBatting.
• Cut2½"bindingstripsfromjeanslegs.Optional:Cutone2½"crosswisestrip(42"–45"wide)contrastingcottonfabricforbinding.
Note: You need about a 42" strip for the binding, so the size of the jeans will determine the number of strips to cut. Seam short ends of strips
with diagonal seams to reduce bulk. Trim seams to ¼"; press open.
2. Layerandquiltthepotholder.
• LayerthewrongsideofnoveltyfabrictothesilversideofQuiltedIronQuickandpinoruseWonderClipsontheoutsideedges.
• QuiltthelayersfollowingthequiltedlinesontheQuiltedIronQuick.
• LayertheNoShiftBattingonthewhitelayeroftheQuiltedIronQuick,thenplacethe8½"denimpocketsquare,rightsideup,on
theNoShiftBatting.Pinorclip.
• Bastetheedgesofthelayeredpotholder.
3. Optional:Addaloophanger.
• Cuttwobeltloopsfromtheremainingjeans.
• Centeronebeltlooponthetopfrontofthepotholder,rightsidestogether.
• Centerthesecondbeltlooponthetopbackofthepotholder,rightsidestogether.
4. Completebinding.
• Useyourfavoritebindingtechniquetobindthepotholder,stitchingthroughthebinding,potholder,andpositionedbeltloops.
• Turnbindingtowrongsideofpotholder,coveringrawedgesofbothloops.
• SetupthesewingmachinewithTopstitchNeedleandJeansStitchThread.
• Edgestitchthebinding.
• Trimloops,ifdesired,andstitchthemtogetheratthetopedge,rightsidestogether.Turnrightsideout.Repeatforasecondpot
holder.
