Ingram and Better World Books have come together to help libraries turn old books into new. As you weed your collection,
Better World Books removes the surplus and either sells or recycles the material …nothing is ever wasted. Better World
Books then issues a credit toward the purchase of books from Ingram for your library.

Better World Books is a for-profit social enterprise that collects and sells books online to fund literacy initiatives worldwide.
Since 2002, Better World Books has raised more than $8.6 million for non-profit literacy and library partners; reused or
recycled more than 40 million books, saving space in landfills, and diverted 17,000 tons of carbon with carbon-neutral
shipping. Books that cannot be sold are frequently donated to at-risk communities in the U.S. and African schools by
the truckload.

How does the program work?
• A representative from Better World Books will first contact you to determine your library’s exact needs
• Better World Books will then coordinate the pickup of your surplus materials, sell these materials, and
pay a commission to Ingram
• Ingram, in turn, will provide a credit to your library to purchase new materials
• Unsalable items are donated or recycled—nothing gets thrown away
