Week of February 14th Prayer All-loving God, there are times when I feel out of place or find myself somewhere foreign to me. Yet even then, you are with me and you introduce me to people who welcome me. Help me to show the same compassion and hospitality to the strangers in my midst even when it makes me uncomfortable. Amen. Scripture Deuteronomy 26:1-11 Questions 1. What does the phrase, “a wandering Aramean was my ancestor” mean? To whom does it refer? 2. Why are the Israelites to offer their first fruits to God? 3. Who is to partake of the first fruits? 4. What does this passage say about how we are to treat foreigners in our midst? Week of February 21st Prayer Shining Path, through the example of Jesus you have shown me the way that leads to life. In my daily life, help me to set aside earthly things in favor of your will. Blot out those lesser parts of me and transform me into the servant you would have me to be as I await your glory. Amen. Scripture Philippians 3:17-4:1 Questions 1. What does Paul call on the Philippians to do? 2. What things does Paul say those who “live as enemies of the cross of Christ” value? 3. Is there a time when you consciously turned away from something earthly and toward something of God? 4. Paul suggests the Philippians should use him as an example. What characteristics of Paul would you want to imitate? Week of February 28th Prayer Merciful God, no matter what happens, I know that you love me and your grace is sufficient for me. Yours is the way of life not death, the way of forgiveness not retribution. Just as you forgive me, remind me to forgive others who have wronged me. Where ties have been strained help me to rebuild relationships and in so doing strengthen the Body of Christ. Amen. Scripture Luke 13:1-9 Questions 1.
