III/12] POLO TERRITORIALE DI PIACENZA HAVING REGARD to Presidential Decree 445 of 28 December 2000; HAVING REGARD to the Regulations for Administration, Finance and Accounting, issued with Rectoral Decree no. 828/AG of 14/03/2014 and in particular articles 73, 75 and 79; HAVING REGARD to the communication of the Board of Reference of the Piacenza Regional Campus dated September 2nd 2016; DECREES publication of the competition call for 1 "Piacenza - Round table No. 4" thesis abroad scholarship. Article 1 Scholarship beneficiaries and characteristics The competition is open to students duly enrolled, within the expiry of this notice, in the academic year 2016-2017 in Master of Science programmes in Architecture at the Piacenza Regional Campus of the Politecnico di Milano who wish to develop their thesis abroad at EU or international institutions, bodies and companies. It is also open to "graduating" students who are therefore not required to enrol in the AY 2016/2017 and who are in line with payment of tuition fees. 1. The scholarship, worth € 750.00 each after tax, cover travel expenses, food and accommodation for a stay abroad for a period of not less than 5 consecutive days. If participation in a conference, seminar or summer school is envisaged, the scholarship can be used to cover registration fees. Travel must be in economy class, by food is meant breakfast, lunch and dinner in non-luxury catering facilities and accommodation must be in hostels, dormitories or max 3-star hotels. Article 2 Admission requirements The competition is open to students enrolled in Master of Science programmes starting from the AY 2014/2015. Applicants must meet the following requirements within the expiry date of this call: - At least 48 Credits useful for obtaining the qualification acquired and duly recorded in the career; - Weighted average of registered exams taken of not less than 26/30; - Have passed the English exam on the date of submission of the application; - Attendance of the seminar on "Intercultural Awareness" specifically provided by the Politecnico on 18 November 2016 (place and time to be announced). Article 3 Participation procedures Applicants are required to submit their application by filling in the pre-printed form available on the website www.polo-piacenza.polimi.it/essereammessi/borse-di-studio/ Applications must be sent or delivered by hand in a sealed envelope bearing the title of the competition (“Round Table no.4 - Piacenza” scholarship AY 2016/2017) no later than 1 pm on 30 November 2016 to the External Relations Office of the Piacenza Regional Campus of the Politecnico di Milano – Via Scalabrini, 76 – 29121 Piacenza. Applications must be accompanied by: 1. Curriculum vitae in European format; 2. Cover letter of max. 500 words illustrating the research method chosen, the purpose of the work and the expected results; 3. Rough description of the thesis prepared exclusively using the form provided; 4. Declaration from the supervisor outlining the objectives of the work and the need for the student to go abroad to develop the graduation thesis; 5. Letter from the foreign institution attesting availability to receive the student to carry out the project activities. Failure to submit or incompleteness of any of the above documents will lead to exclusion from selection. Applications for admission to the competition will be considered to be submitted on time also if sent by registered letter with notification of receipt within the specified deadline. To this end, the date on which the application was sent according to the postmark will constitute proof of delivery. Submission of the application for participation in the scholarship involves acceptance of that contained in this call. Article 4 Admissions Commission Scholarships are awarded based on a ranking prepared by the Admissions Commission consisting of: - The Vice Rector of the Piacenza Campus or his representative; - The Chairman of Round Table no.4 – Piacenza or his representative; - Edoardo Favari for Round Table no. 4 - Piacenza. The ranking will be compiled by giving a score to each student applying according to the following formula: Si = x x 100 Where: Si is the score attributed to the ith student Mi is the average marks of exams useful for graduating and registered in the career within the expiry date of the call, expressed in thirtieths; N cfu, i is the number of Credits useful for graduating and registered in the career within the expiry date of the call; The final factor 100 is a scale factor. The Commission will assess that applications comply with the criteria listed below, under penalty of exclusion: Significance of expected results; Cultural-technical-scientific value of the work to be carried out; Implications of the thesis in a broad international cooperation project; Overall assessment of the sustainability of the thesis project idea. At the end of the assessment, the Commission will prepare a ranking of scholarship winners as well as eligible non-beneficiaries. Two scholarships will be awarded to the first two candidates in the ranking enrolled at the School of Architecture and to the first two candidates in the ranking enrolled at the School of Engineering. If the number of eligible candidates in the Architecture or Engineering groups is less than two, the first of the eligible non-beneficiaries of the other group will be financed until all scholarships have been awarded. Article 5 General rules Withdrawal: in the event of withdrawal of a scholarship winner, assignment passes to the next candidate in the ranking. Disbursement: the scholarship is disbursed by the Round Table in a single instalment and will be paid on submission of the report on the activities carried out abroad, countersigned by the supervisor and by the host institution according to the form provided and possibly accompanied by suitable documentation demonstrating the actual duration of stay abroad, a copy of the travel ticket and receipts for travel, food and accommodation expenses and any registration fees for conferences, seminars or summer schools, certifying actual expenses sustained up to the value of the scholarship after tax; in the event of receipts for lower amounts, lower after tax amounts will be reimbursed. This documentation must be submitted prior to graduation, under penalty of loss of the right to disbursement of the scholarship. Assignment of the scholarship will be notified to all successful candidates at their institutional e-mail address following publication of the ranking. Within 15 days of receipt of such notification, successful candidates must send, signed for acceptance, the forms that will be attached to the notification of assignment. Taxation: mobility contributions pursuant to this call are subject, for tax purposes, to applicable legislation concerning scholarships. Article 6 Processing of personal data Pursuant to Legislative Decree 196/2003, the Politecnico di Milano - Piacenza Regional Campus, the Data Controller of personal data provided, ensures that the same will be used exclusively for matters relating to this procedure. The ranking will be published on the website of the Regional Campus in the News section.
