Portland Jewish Explorers Join Congregation Shaarie Torah for a new approach to Jewish education for children in grades 3-5* and their parents. Once per month, talented local experts will join Education Director, Dorice Horenstein, and Rabbi Joshua Rose in combining creativity and fun with Jewish inspiration. We will meet at unique locations around Portland and will guide that session’s fun and Jewish exploration. Our philosophy to Jewish learning is that children are inspired to connect their Judaism to the broader world when they are in fun and exciting educational environments. In addition, when parents are part of the fun, they can better support their child’s learning. Portland Jewish Explorers will give children and parents access to engaging Jewish ideas, a connection to Judaism, and a chance to meet new friends. *Children younger than the 3rd grade may join with Education Director’s approval. Bar/Bat Mitzvah at Shaarie Torah Mazal Tov! Your child has almost reached the age of adulthood in accordance with Jewish law and is about to celebrate a Bar/ Bat Mitzvah. Since the Bar/Bat Mitzvah was established to allow a young adult to demonstrate a cumulative intellectual mastery of aspects of Jewish tradition, Shaarie Torah has created an avenue that will help your child achieve just that! B’nai Mitzvot My daughter’s Bat Mitzvah’s experience was very meaningful. Not only was she very well prepared, but she also absorbed the significance and concepts behind the ceremony. A very empowering experience. - Heyman Family Ruach Minyan & Services I just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed the community family service (Ruach Minyan). I have never understood the MEANING of why we pray what we pray and so many of our traditions in such a profound, relatable way as I did on Saturday. You answered so many of Kirsten’s questions about the holiday, and you made it engaging and entertaining for Ethan. You took what has always been a very somber holiday for me and made it enjoyable, while preserving the reflective quality of the day. -Jason Glick Call Today To Be a Part of This AMAZING SCHOOL!
