STOWE SCHOOL EXAM RESULTS SUMMER 2016 Information for the Lower Sixth Mrs Akam, Dr Potter, Mr Robinson, Housemasters/Housemistresses and I will be available from 10.00am Thursday 18 August to discuss any questions arising from AS results. Heads of Departments and Tutors will be available by phone and email from 10.00am to 3.00pm to discuss any urgent questions arising from AS results (including the need to order photocopies of scripts). Please remember that Upper Sixth will take priority on Thursday morning due to the need to act promptly regarding university places. The following services are available if your exam results don’t meet your expectations: • Photocopy of scripts – with a view to ordering a non‐priority re‐mark – deadline 26 August 2016 •
Non priority re‐marks – deadline 20 September 2016 •
Return of original scripts – deadline 4 October 2016 (These will arrive in School any time between 21 September 2016 and 16 November 2016 and cannot be used with a view to deciding on a re‐mark.) Due to the difficulties involved in requesting a script following a re‐mark, the School policy is to request a copy of your script at the time of requesting a re‐mark. If you do not wish to have a copy of your script, please state this on your form. Re‐mark requests will be dealt with at the beginning of term and the relevant Head of Department must have been consulted and their approval given. Your written consent is needed before the request can be sent. A list of fees/costs etc. is attached. Please remember that in signing up for any Post Results Services, you are liable for the fee relating to the service requested. *ALWAYS REMEMBER* MARKS CAN GO DOWN AS WELL AS UP! The Exams Office will advise you as to costs etc and assist you with all other post results matters. Costs of the services vary from board to board and year to year. Please note that during the week following your results the Exams Office will also be busy with GCSE results. IF YOU DECIDE YOU WISH TO RE‐SIT A PAPER • If you wish to re‐sit a paper, but will be carrying on with the subject to A2 Level you need do nothing now. Discuss a re‐sit with the relevant Head of Department on your return. • If you wish to re‐sit and are not continuing with the subject to A2 Level, you should discuss the re‐sit with the Head of Department as soon as you return to Stowe and notify the Exams Office when a decision to re‐sit has been agreed. The only exception is where a grade is moved up for the whole subject (not just a module), the exam board then will not charge for the re‐mark of the module concerned. As a rule, we are invoiced by the exam board late in the Michaelmas term and so these charges may be relayed to you until late 2016 or early 2017.
