What We’re Reading– Adult Services Staff Picks Caris’ Picks The great pearl heist: London's greatest jewel thief and Scotland Yard's hunt for the world's most valuable necklace by Molly Caldwell Crosby 364.162873927 C949g 2012 Crosby turns back the clock to a winning true crime tale involving two superior minds—a very capable detective and a wily gentleman criminal—as they join forces to investigate a jewel heist at the dawn of 20th-century. Reading less like the well-researched historical work it is and more like a fast-paced crime thriller the book tells the tale of the hunt for a precious pearl necklace, worth more than the Hope diamond. Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews F Andrews The ninth entry in this series keeps up all the fast-paced action and strong character development that Andrews is known for. Kate must deal with the implications of having claimed Atlanta, learn to control her own power, and confront her father, Roland all while grudgingly picking a dress, a cake, and a guest list for her much-anticipated wedding to Curran. Andrews's "Kate Daniels" urban fantasies are among the very best, combining heart-wrenching, dark story lines leavened with the perfect amount of humor and a romantic couple readers will root for through thick and thin.
