TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD Movie Pitch Project

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD
Movie Pitch Project
(Final Assessment)
DUE DATE: ______________________________________
TASK:
You and your group members (no more than 5 per group) have decided that you want to put a new spin on a
movie version of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. Using your knowledge of the book you will “cast” the
major characters with modern actors/actresses. Your group will need to select five songs to be used as a
soundtrack for the movie. The presentation or “pitch” will be presented as a power point and should include the
information below:
DETAILS:
You will need to cast the following characters with modern actors/actresses:
Atticus
Scout
Jem
Arthur “Boo” Radley
Tom Robinson
Bob Ewell
(One more character of your choice, for example: Calpurnia, Dill, Miss Maudie, Aunt Alexandra, Uncle Jack,
Heck Tate, Mayella Ewell, Mrs. Dubose, etc.)
*Create a slide for each character which should include a picture of the actor, a quote from the book, and your
reasoning behind selecting that actor/actress. The quotes should be about or from the characters. The quotes
should have quotation marks around them and be identified (write down who said the quote and include the
page number, if possible). For example, “She is the victim of cruel poverty and ignorance, but I cannot pity her:
she is white.” –Atticus (page 203).
*You will also need to have 2-3 slides listing the songs and artists on your “soundtrack” and your brief
reasons for selecting the songs (how they fit into the play).
*Your pictures and song lyrics must be school appropriate!
*Be sure to include an introduction slide first that includes your group members’ names, period, and project
title.
*Finally end with a resource page that lists all of the websites you used for your photos.
*FORMAT – YOUR SLIDE SHOW MUST BE IN THIS ORDER! (5 POINTS)
