 Tips for success 
MAKE SURE YOU KNOW & UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING:
The Tudor Family Tree
You need to be able to work out the relationships between certain members of
the Tudor Family and work out how many wives, children etc that people had.
Chronology
This means putting events in order as they happened (Time order). Always start
with the earliest and work your way to the latest. In your exam you will be given
a list of events and you have to be able to put them into correct order as they
happened.
The Princes Tower
What happened in the Princes Tower. You will be given sources to work out what
had happened. You should be able to judge as to whether or not the sources
agree or disagree with one another. You need to consider the following:
Whether you can trust the source?
Is it bias? (one sided)
When was it written?
Who wrote it?
Why might they have written it? (this could be things that are produced to
educate children etc)
Henry VIII’s Break with Rome
You should have written an essay based on the reasons why Henry made the
decision to break from the Catholic Church and make himself Head of the
Church. You must learn this essay and try to link reasons and results as to why
he made the decision.
Paragraph 1 – A brief Introduction as to Henry VIII’s love life and his situation
at this time.
Paragraph 2 – Who was Anne Boleyn? Was it Henry’s love for her that made him
break from Rome?
Paragraph 3 – Other reasons why he broke away from the Church. (Money,
Martin Luther etc)
Paragraph 4 – Conclusion – Give your opinion – do you think that it was Henry’s
love for Anne Boleyn that made him break away from Rome? Give reasons for
your answer.
Spanish Armada
This was a fleet of ships that had been sent by Philip II. You need to know some
reasons as to why he wanted to attack England and possibly why he might have
lost.
Religion
You need to know the differences between and Protestant Church and a Catholic
Church.
Protestant – Plain, Wooden, no Symbols of faith
Catholic – Bright, Colourful, Gold, Stained glass windows etc.
