An MWSU Senate Bill to Amend Article IV, Section 1 of the SGA Constitution.
WHEREAS, this amendment would create tiers for additional appointed positions.
THEREFORE, WE, THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION OF MISSOURI WESTERN STATE
UNIVERSITY, HEREBY ENACT TO:
Section 1. Replace Article IV, Section 1A with:
“A. SGA President (Elected Position)
The SGA President shall be the chief Executive Board member, and all other members of the Executive
Board shall report to him/her. It shall be the duty of the SGA President to represent the Association
and the SGA in all matters. He/she shall also enforce all provisions of this constitution and its Bylaws
and all other rules of the SGA. He/she shall also make recommendations to the SGA Senate on
matters as he/she deems necessary for action. The SGA President is the only member of the
Association that has the authority to veto any and all legislation. The SGA President shall also perform
other such duties assigned by SGA Policy.”
Section 2. Replace Article IV, Section 1B with:
“B. SGA Executive Vice President (Elected Position)
The SGA Executive Vice President shall be the second ranking chief Executive Board member and the
presiding officer over the SGA Senate. The SGA Executive Vice President shall assist the SGA President
in the performance of his/her duties and shall perform the duties of the SGA President in his/her
absence. He/she shall also supervise all the SGA Senate Standing and Special Committee
Chairpersons and keep a record of all the SGA Senate Standing and Special Committee meetings. The
SGA Executive Vice President shall also perform other such duties assigned by the SGA President or
SGA Policy. The SGA President supervises the SGA Executive Vice President.”
Section 3. Replace Article IV, Section 1C with:
“C. Appointed Directors
Appointed Directors shall be appointed as specified by SGA Governing documents. They shall perform
duties assigned by the SGA President or SGA Policy. The SGA President supervises the Appointed
Directors.”

Section 5. Add Article IV, Section 2C with:
“C. SGA Staff
SGA Staff shall be appointed as specified by SGA Governing documents. They shall perform duties
assigned by their supervisors, the SGA President, or SGA Policy. Their supervisor shall be specified in
the SGA Policy or Bylaw creating their position.”
Section 6. Replace all mentions of “Homecoming Chairperson(s)” with “Assistant Director(s) of
Homecoming.”
Section 7. Add “SGA Appointed Assistant Directors, SGA Staff” after “SGA appointed directors” and
before “SGA ex-officio members” in Article IV, Section 3.
Section 8. Replace Article IV, Section 5 with:
“Section 5: Appointed Directors and Appointed Assistant Directors Appointments
The SGA Appointed Directors and Appointed Assistant Directors will be selected as follows:
A. The SGA President, in consultation with the SGA Executive Vice President, shall appoint the
SGA Directors and Assistant Directors. These officials shall take office prior to the final
Senate meeting of the spring semester and serve for one (1) year from the date of
appointment.
B. All appointed members of the SGA Executive Board must be approved by a two-thirds (2/3)
approval of the SGA Senate.”
Section 9. Replace Article IV, Section 6 with:
“Section 6: Qualifications for and Removal of the SGA Appointed Directors and SGA
Appointed Assistant Directors
A. Qualifications
All appointed Directors and Assistant Directors must be enrolled at the University, have and
maintained throughout the duration of his/her term at least a 2.50 (on a 4.000 scale)
cumulative grade point average. He/she must attend the University as a full-time student
(twelve (12) credit hours undergraduate/nine (9) credit hours graduate) during the term of
his/her office. Additionally, in order to serve in an SGA appointed position, candidates must
be in disciplinary good standing with the University and must remain in good standing for
the term of his/her position.
B. Removal of the Appointed Directors and Assistant Directors
All appointed directors and assistant directors may be removed from their position by the
recommendation of the SGA President in consultation with the Executive Board and the SGA advisor or
his/her designee. If an appointed director is found in violation of the SGA constitution or bylaws, it
may be cause for removal from his/her position. Additionally, the appointed directors and assistant
directors work at the pleasure of the SGA Senate and may be dismissed by a (2/3) approval of the
SGA Senate. All appointed directors and assistant directors may be removed by the SGA Advisor or
his/her designee if minimum requirements are not met as stated in Article IV, Section 6A or the SGA
Policies.”
Section 10. Legislative weight shall be granted to the SGA President and SGA Administrative
Coordinator to edit the Constitution to fix any continuity errors this Consitutional amendment may
make.
Section 11. Upon passage, this amendment to the SGA Constitution shall be put to a student vote on
April 13-14, 2016.

THEREFORE, WE, THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION OF MISSOURI WESTERN STATE
UNIVERSITY, HEREBY ENACT TO:
Section 1. Remove “Standing” from Article III, Section 1 of the SGA Bylaws.
Section 2. Replace Article III, Section 1A of the SGA Bylaws with:
“A. Senate Standing Committees
1. Senate Standing Committees shall be committees considered to be permanent fixtures of the
SGA. Specific details on individual Senate Standing Committees shall be spelled out in the
SGA Policies. A committee may become a Senate Standing Committee via amending the
corresponding SGA Policy.”
Section 3. Remove Article III, Sections 1B, 1C, and 1D of the SGA Bylaws.
Section 4. Legislative weight shall be granted to the SGA President and SGA Administrative

Executive Board Job Responsibilities
General Guidelines:
• Failure to meet these job responsibilities is grounds for removal from office.
• The President of SGA is the supervisor for all positions unless otherwise noted. All
positions shall also complete any tasks provided by the President of SGA.
• The hourly wage denoted herein may be increased or decreased due to inflation at the
recommendation of the SGA Advisor or his/her designee.

Job Payment: $9.00 hourly for 20 mandated office hours/week

Job Responsibilities:
• Approve/Veto all legislation put forth by SGA Senate
• Represent the Association and SGA in all matters
• Enforce all provisions of the constitution and by-laws and all other rules of the SGA

• Monthly meetings with the University President
• Weekly meetings with the Vice President for Student Affairs

An MWSU Senate Bill to approve Alpha Sigma Phi as a Recognized Student Organization (RSO).
WHEREAS, Alpha Sigma Phi currently has at least six members; and,
WHEREAS, its purpose is to “Better the Man through the creation and perpetuation of brotherhood
founded upon the Values of character: Silence, Charity, Purity, Honor, and Patriotism…”; and,
WHEREAS, the organization meets all requirements to become a Recognized Student Organization
(RSO).
