May 2017 Alumni Happenings yesterday, today and tomorrow ... SPOTLIGHT: Stacy Jensen Brooks, Class of 1986 Stacy recently shared her story on FaceBook following the incident at North Park Elementary in San Bernardino. She felt a need to provide comfort to the children at North Park. Here, in her own words, is what she did. “First and foremost I want to try and somehow express my gratitude for the overwhelming love and support that has come from our community. My goal was to collect 500 teddy bears for the children at North Park Elementary after Monday’s tragedy. Looking at all that we have collected I find myself speechless (and for all who know me – I am rarely at a loss for words!) Every teddy bear and stuffed animal that came to us, came with a story. We have met people from every neighboring city, school, and church. We’ve had preschoolers all the way up to grandparents come. We’ve had fitness groups, hair salons, mortgage companies, water departments, retail stores, only to name a few that have come from as far away as Los Angeles and Orange County. We’ve had the support of KFROG radio station and Spreen Honda of Loma Linda act as donation centers for us. The out pour of love and support just never seemed to end. It has been one of the most beautiful and joyful few days. We truly live in the most wonderful city filled with people who spread goodness and love and it ripples all the way outside of our local street. The phrase “San Bernardino Strong” means so much more to me today. Today we will be transporting over 3500 stuffed animals to the Boys and Girls Club who have opened their doors and space to house our incredible collection. We have been so blessed that we will be able to spread the love and hope not only to North Park Elementary school. We have all come together and will be spreading love and hope throughout the entire Inland Empire. We are working closely with the Superintendent of San Bernardino City Schools and their Crisis Counselors. The Crisis Counselors will be the ones to physically distribute our stuffed animals to the children. As I know you can all imagine, a large group of strangers is not what the children and teachers need at this moment. I am so appreciative that the Crisis Counselors and the school district are there to extend and facilitate our outward gesture with the true spirit in which it all began: Love and Support for the North Park Elementary. This is about them, not us. Again THANK YOU seems so inadequate but from the bottom of my heart….THANK YOU. I have attached a couple of photos for you to enjoy and see what real kindness looks like!! In the spirit of me…..BIG BIG HUGS TO ALL!” - Stacy IT’S BEEN 50 YEARS! Pomona Catholic High School “Class of 1967” will hold their Fiftieth Class Reunion on Sunday June 4, 2017 In Pomona, CA.
