Student Wireless Access - Virginia Wesleyan College

Virginia Wesleyan College Network Access
Virginia Wesleyan College has implemented a new Network Access Control (NAC) system. Each student owned device must be
scanned and registered in the NAC before getting access to the network. This is for wired and wireless devices.
Following are basic instructions for getting your device onto the network.
1) For Wireless Users: Make sure you are
connected to VWCStudent wireless.
If you are connecting your device to the
network port in your room with an Ethernet
cable, skip to Step #2.
2) Use the web browser of your choice and click
the link to connect.
3) Type in your Username and Password you
received from Computer Services. This is the same
Username and password that will be used for the
network, Email and Web Advisor.

Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus link. This will

antivirus. Follow the instructions for installation.

7) Once completed, click on the Reattempt Network
Access button at the bottom of the screen. Your
computer will be rescanned for compliance. If your
computer passes the security scan, you will be granted
full network access.
8) Your computer will be scanned to ensure it is in
compliance with the following:
•
•
•
You are running antivirus with updated
definitions
Windows updates are current
The Enterasys NAC agent is running
9) Once the scan has been completed, you will be
granted internet and network access on the VWC
network.
VWC network access is valid for 5 months, providing that your computer remains in compliance with the settings in step
#8 above. If your computer becomes non-compliant (i.e. no antivirus, NAC agent, etc…) your access will be disabled
and you will be prompted to correct the issue before access is restored.
Each user is allowed a maximum of 5 devices (wired and/or wireless) on the VWC network.
Please contact the VWC Computer Services Help Desk at 757-455-3111 (option #2), or send an email to
