Types of Irony
-Verbal Irony: a word or phrase used to
suggest the opposite of its actual meaning
Example: Sarcasm – definition - the use of
words that mean the opposite of what you really
want to say, especially in order to insult someone,
to show irritation, or to be funny.

Dramatic Irony: When there is a
contradiction between what a character
thinks and what the readers know is true
