MEDIA RELEASE June 2015 UniLodge Wanderlust Promotion When you talk about Australia, often the term mateship comes to mind. One of our residents, Michael Kreminski truly defines this. Michael is an ANU student currently completing the final year of his undergraduate degree in psychology. Before commencing his study, Michael spent over five years as part of the Australian Army’s airborne forces, completing tours in both East Timor and Afghanistan. Through his experience with the forces, Michael knows better than most the toll military service can take on those involved, and that sometimes it’s not necessarily the physical scars that cause the greatest pain. It’s through his studies that Michael hopes to heal these unseen injuries, but even before completing his degree he continues to provide support for our servicemen and women wherever he can. Early this year UniLodge ran a promotion that would see one lucky winner win a $5000 travel voucher, Michael was named the lucky winner. Since winning the UniLodge Wanderlust competition, he has donated half of the $5000 prize to “Soldier On”, a charity focused on raising awareness and support for those returning from service. This donation will greatly assist “Soldier On” in sending a number of wounded veterans overseas, to participate in a fundraising and awareness bike ride across Europe. Thank you Michael, for being such a humble winner – you are truly an inspiration to us all.
