Secondary Design and technology

Secondary
Design and technology
Through the work of the HIAS Design and Technology Team, teachers are
helped to provide students with the means to be creative and practical
designers and makers. Working in design and technology (D&T) students
are able to develop a set of practical, organisational and technological skills
which support the development of personal resilience and independence,
and enables them to achieve personal, creative fulfilment. D&T provides a
context within which students can extend and deepen their learning of
science and mathematics. They learn to identify opportunities and solve
practical problems through which they can intervene to improve the quality of
life. For all students, D&T is the means through which they will develop the
confidence and wherewithal to face up to the practical challenges in life. For
some it is the pathway through which they will develop their interests in the
technological and vocational world and in which they, and the country, will
earn their living.
