Established in 2007 as a financially and administratively independent government
institute, responsible for encouraging and supporting scientific research in Jordan.
The Fund plays a key role in the implementation of the higher education and scientific
research national strategic plan:
- Advance scientific research and development.
- Develop higher education.
- Strengthen the private sector role in developing scientific research especially
transformational scientific research that national continuous development plans require.
 Vision:
Building Jordan as a competitor in the region through strategic
investments in human resources.
 Message:
To improve Jordan’s research and technological capacity, strengthen its
innovation power, and ensure the application of scientific endeavor for the
benefits of the Jordanian people.
 General principles:
 Support creativity, excellence and innovation.
 Support the principle of participatory with all sectors.
 Commitment to research ethics and impartiality in evaluation and equality for all.
 The Fund started its operation in the 4th quarter of 2007 with an initial budget of
470,000 JDs which was transferred to its account from the Vocational Training
Fund of Ministry of the Industry and Trade.
 SRSF is administered by a Board of Directors headed by the Minster of Higher
Education and Scientific Research, MOHE.
 The SRSF is run by a Director General with a staff of 36 employees:
- 7 are identified to work within the technical related issues directorate and are
conducting work related to processing of applications for R&D projects.
-29 are identified to work within the financial and administration related issues
directorate.
 Support scientific research by Jordanian researchers from public and
private institutions.
 Guide researchers towards the most useful scientific researches to meet
the needs of the Jordanian society.
 Provide financial support for scientific research projects offered by the
Jordanian universities and related public and private institutions.
 Grant distinguished researchers in higher education institutions awards
for there distinguished scientific research.
 Support specialized Jordanian scientific journals.
 Support scientific conferences held by Jordanian universities and
institutions related to scientific research in Jordan.
 Solve problems faced by institutions and Jordanian companies in
coordination with the Jordanian universities.
 Cooperation with Jordanian, regional and international organizations in
the field of Support scientific research and technical development.
 Contribute in funding of scientific research programs and projects
implemented under the agreements on scientific and technical
cooperation with other countries and international organizations and
Islamic institutions.
 Support graduate full-time student excelling academically in Jordanian
universities.
