This new full length work will premiere at the Dunedin Fringe Festival, 12-14 March 2015
7pm at the Fortune Theatre Studio.
Dismemberment; amputation; whichever adjective you use, death is a severance that when
experienced will leave a person forever changed.
With humour, poignancy and raw honesty, ‘Amputation of Personality’ explores the very real
very turbulent experience of grief.
The Unity Creative presents an innovative multi disciplinary piece about grief and its
universality to the human experience. Spanning the genres of theatre, dance and puppetry, all
set to a soundtrack created live by a DJ/Producer ‘Amputation’ is sure to resonate with
anyone who has experienced the roller coaster of grief.

Who is Involved:
Jodie Bate (Deviser/ Performer)
Having studied at Toi Whakaari, New Zealand Drama School and La Mancha School of
Image and Gesture in Santiago, Chile, Jodie has enjoyed working in Theatre, dance and
television both in New Zealand and Europe. 2009 saw Jodie solidify her passion in
physical/dance theatre through a period of working with ‘Point Zero’, a company based in
Oxford, UK with whom she travelled to France and Switzerland performing both solo and
company devised works.
Prior to her time in Europe Jodie presented TV2’s ‘The Go Show’, she also contributed to
script writing, puppetry and choreography for ‘The Go Show’, Kidzone and ‘What Now?’
Other highlights include four professional plays at Dunedin’s Fortune Theatre and a five
month season of Michealanne Forster’s ‘The Great Storm of 1868’ in Oamaru. Jodie has also
appeared in numerous Dance theatre productions with Scrambled Legs and Jolt Dance
/Theatre companies.
Kristopher Bate (Director/ Producer/ Musician/ DJ)
Once described as one of the most versatile performers in New Zealand, Kristopher has
enjoyed a successful career in the entertainments industry that now spans more than 22 years,
beginning as a singer with a local touring road show.
Kristopher’s vast experience also includes more than 10 years in the club scene as a DJ and
producer, a radio jock, a professional singer/songwriter, actor, and T.V. presenter.
Kristopher will be very familiar to theatre goers in Dunedin as a regular on the Fortune
Theatre stage, and throughout the country with his performances in various productions such
as The Rat Pack Returns Live and Fawlty Towers.
