SUMMER READING CHARACTER CARD
If you do not attend Summer Academy as an incoming
freshman, or quiz on an AR book as a 10th-12th grader in the
LMC during the summer, you will need to complete the
following and hand in the first day of school:

The House on Mango Street
Character-Esperanza
Appearance-Lazy hair, Skinny, Dirty
Clothes, Old shoes
Personality-She is a smart girl. She
likes telling stories, shy, sad and nice.
Problem- She moves too much and she
just wants a nice house to herself that
she could call her own.
Goal-The goal of the story is to find a
house to herself and a nice house.
Outcome-Well she still lived on Mango
Street in the brick house, but it made
her stronger and she is very eager and
doesn’t look like she’ll give up.
Statements- She said “I make a story
for my life for each step I make”.
Thoughts-She thinks about life and all
the people around her. She pays
attention to everyone and notices how
they live.
Feelings-She wants a best friend who
Interactions-She’s nice and polite with
she can laugh with. She also feels
people.
embarrassed about where she lives.
She feels like nothing she says.
Personal Connection- I think she is a
strong girl. She reminds me of me
because no matter what’s going on,
she’ll do what’s good for her.
