JOVYATLAS was founded on December 1, 1945 by Dr. Richard Jovy. Some of the
founder’s first products were cinema rectifiers, frequency converters and
inverters; later on UPS Systems followed.
The development history of JOVYATLAS Elektrische Umformtechnik GmbH is
distinguished by continuity, pioneering spirit and innovative strength.
In its 68 years history JOVYATLAS has developed into an international company
and has delivered reliable energy systems for various areas of application in
business and industry. As manufacturer of UPS Systems, rectifiers and inverters,
frequency converters and resistors, JOVYATLAS offers a wide range of products
with innovative technology and customer-specific solutions.
JOVYATLAS employs actually 132 staff members in different departments and
with different qualifications. Highly qualified engineers and well trained technical
specialists provide innovation and perspective; motivated and reliable employees
in the production area guarantee accuracy and quality; employees in logistics
and management ensure smooth procedures.
JOVYATLAS is known as a reliable and secure employer and apprenticing
company. JOVYATLAS has also been able to record successful years, even in the

The headquarter of JOVYATLAS is located at Groninger Straße 29-37, Leer,
Germany, the location of plant I. Management as well as production of UPS
Systems, rectifiers, inverters, frequency converters, etc. are located here. In the
course of on-going expansion, the resistor production was outsourced in 2003 for
space reasons and relocated to plant II in Jemgum, Germany.
Based on consistent growth, the production area in Jemgum has been expanded
twice since 2003. The location today is approx. 2000 m² and is the home to the
complete resistor technical area, starting from sales, to development,
manufacturing, up to testing and shipping. Currently the resistor systems are
developed and produced in different designs in an output range of 100 W to
50 MW.
While in years past many components of the resistor housing or resistor
elements were purchased and manufactured externally, today almost everything
is produced by the company's own plant.
In order to process this enormous volume of work, the company has invested in
the most modern machinery like CNC controlled laser and punching systems and
for the most part work is done in 3 shifts in order to cover the high demand. The
resistor production has been a continuously growing part of JOVYATLAS in the
last few years and already represents 35% of total sales at JOVYATLAS.
2014, the long-term goal of the company management, the merger of the two
manufacturing plants Plant I , Groninger Straße 29-37 , Leer and Plant II ,
Fennenweg 4, 26844 Jemgum and the outer bearing into a common site will be
realized in order to make production processes and logistics more effectively.
Already during the first Quarter of 2014, the entire production, the warehouse
and the testing department will move to the new premises located in Jemgum.

January 2014 In a second construction phase the new administration building will be built. The
plans specify a completion in mid- 2015 so that the headquarters of JOVYATLAS
will be permanently move to Jemgum at the latest in October 2015.
By merging all the sites in new, spacious premises for JOVYATLAS a long desired
goal will be achieved. With the new office building (1300 sqm), the new
production hall (4800 square meters) and the existing old production hall of
resistance building (2200 sqm) a total area of 8300 sqm is achieved. With a plot
size of approximately 23,700 square meters further extensions are possible.
In the new buildings, the latest production technology will ensure increased
efficiency, a modern high bay warehouse will facilitate the logistics significantly
and a new test facility with energy recovery and a photovoltaic system will
significantly improve the energy balance.
