country into democracy, Albert Luthuli was the first African Nobel Peace Prize winning laureate ,Mahatma Gandhi
developed and popularized the passive resistance movement and Nelson Mandela lead a rainbow nation into the world.
These five historical figures shaped the South Africa we live in today, forever changing her cultural and political landscape.
Join us in a day of discovery spent diving into some of the lives of the most prominent figures in South Africa’s history as
we celebrate 20 years of democracy and the figures who paved the way for us to be here.

This special 21 Years of Democracy Heritage tour will stop off at the three houses, one resting place and one voting station.
Each place holds enormous significance to 5 of our greatest leaders and indeed us as a nation. From the stories of the
greatest and most renowned Zulu king and his rise, to the arrival of indentured Indian labour, the birth of Apartheid and
the resistance that formed against it and the elections that freed a country from its racial shackles, we explore South Africa
through the stories of the leaders that helped shape her. The day is capped off with a relaxed shisanyama lunch at one of
Street Scene’s favorite taverns in KwaMashu.
