THERMALLY MODIFIED SOLID HARDWOOD
• Thermal modification is a
computer-controlled process which
is carried out in special kilns at
high temperatures
• Only steam and heat are used,
no chemicals added
• Heated to approximately 190-215
degrees by Celcius
• Two modification levels:
Medium and Intense
• Due to the high stability thermally
modified wood can also be used in
wet rooms and on heated floors
• Thermally modified wood has a very
long lifetime, higher dimensional • All the advantages of thermally
modified wood make it an
stability and lower equilibrium
environmentally friendly alternative
moisture content compared to
to tropical hardwoods, gaining
unmodified wood
popularity all over the world
• The modification brings out the
natural beauty of the wood grain
THE THERMORY® HARDWOOD FLOORING COLLECTION INCLUDES:
Tango - intense modified ash
Salsa - medium modified ash
Samba - medium modified pecan
Flamenco - medium modified birch
Industrial - thermally modified solid hardwood strips
Engineered - three-layer thermally modified hardwood

THE CREATION OF A BEAUTIFUL, EASILY MAINTAINED SURFACE

Our unique surface finish consists of different coating materials
which give a superior finish that is attractive yet simple to maintain.
TRANSPARENT, FLEXIBLE LACQUER
Lacquers are the most popular floor finishing material, as
they are visually appealing and are easy to maintain. We
use premium quality lacquer with elastic properties. This
prevents cracks in the finish layer caused by expansion
and shrinking during fluctuating humidity and even when
subjected to force.
ANTI SCRATCH SURFACE
The top layer is composed of “anti-scratch” material that
has been designed using nanoparticle technology.
OPAQUE LACQUER: A MORE NATURAL APPEARANCE
A standard matt lacquered finish has a gloss level of 15 – 20.
The UV-lacquers we use are safe and non hazardous; they
do not contain solvents or formaldehydes and do not give
off any hazardous fumes. A lacquered surface is hygienic,
easy to maintain and provides good protection against
staining. The overall finish of the floor will have a homogeneous look and the surface is very pleasant to the touch.

TRANSPARENT OIL: A COMBINATION OF UV AND
NATURAL OILS
Oiled surfaces leave the wood looking very natural.
For oil finishing we use hybrid UV-hardening oils that
combine the positive features of UV and oxidative oils.
UV-oil penetrates the top fibres of the surface. The UV
component gives the wood the necessary protective
layer while the natural component allows easy spot
repairs wuth natural oils as it shares many similarities
with oxidative oils.
OILED FINISHES ARE EASILY REPAIRED AND
REFRESHED
The factory made oil finish can and must be refreshed
periodically to maintain the natural beauty of the
floor. The oiled surface has a pleasant texture and the
matt finish gives the floor a very unique look. The
maintenance of an oiled floor is extremely simple and
will preserve it’s natural beauty for many years.

INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION OF INDUSTRIAL FLOORING
CONVENTIONAL NAILING – NAILING OR STAPLING TO A SUB-FLOOR
When performing a nail-down installation, handle the flooring with care to avoid splitting.
We recommend using a pneumatic flooring nailer when blind nailing and pre-drilling
when nailing or screwing the face.
GLUE – GLUEING DIRECTLY TO CONCRETE OR TO A SUB-FLOOR
Glue is primarily used to attach hardwood flooring to fully cured and dry concrete
substrates or wood, when nailing is not an option. Glue is also used as a sound
reduction barrier and can help soften the transfer of noise when hardwood is
installed in applications such as apartment buildings and high-rises. Hardwood that is
installed using the nail-down method can tend to have higher noise transfer between floors.
Thermory® Industrial flooring consists of solid hardwood strips of 14 x 20 mm, held
together with transparent tape.
Such squares can be glued down with regular parquet glue. Glue must only be put
on the back surface – there should be no glue between the individual pieces. After
gluing we recommend sanding the flooring twice before applying oil or lacquer. For
the perfect result please refer to the professional hardwood installation company.
Thermory® Industrial flooring is suitable for homes and as well high traffic areas e.g.
sports clubs and public places.

GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Thermory ® solid hardwood flooring is 100% natural timber.
Although thermal modification makes the wood significantly
more stable it is recommended that the floor is not exposed to
large variations in moisture. We recommend a constant relative
humidity within 30%-50%. Use climate control (air conditioners, humidifiers, etc.) as needed. Rugs and furniture should
be moved periodically if area is exposed to regular sunlight to
minimize the effects of colour change over time.
