INSIDER GUIDE TO MAKING GOLD IN ARCHEAGE
Regardless if you are in real life or you are in an MMO, always and everywhere you have the
same topic – the beloved money – and this is no different for ArcheAge it is more like the
opposite, with the huge focus on crafted equipment Gold in ArcheAge is much more important
than in other games where your equipment comes from farming a dungeon. This guide shall
help you to understand the basic concept of money making in ArcheAge to give you the ability
to choose a way to make Gold that fit you the best.
First of all you have to understand that there are different ways of making Gold and that
each possible method needs some investment. It is not enough to simply say – if I do this I get
Gold – in addition the “creation” of Gold in ArcheAge is always using one of your ressources –
labor. Regardless of how much time you have to spend you cannot “create” more gold if you do
not have any labor left. This does not mean you cannot get Gold without labor but it means the
act of creation – making Gold out of Air – is not possible in ArcheAge.
Labor
You could say – the more labor you invest the more Gold you can “create” and yet there are
two more input factors you have to consider when you think about creating Gold – the time
and the Gold you invest.
Basically you can say:
Gold x Time x Labor = Reward
If you pocket is empty you have to invest more time and more labor to have the same reward
as a player who is also investing Gold for his reward. As example we could take the Housing –
you have to invest Gold to claim and sustain your own plot but once your trees are growing
you can use your time for something else. While all three inputs are capped, how much Gold
you own, the 24 hours each day or the labor you have available it is for you to decide with
factor is the most expensive for you.

If you have lots of free time and you have already a high amount of Gold you could simply
said you are labor capped. This means nothing else but to find the most efficient way for you to
convert labor into gold.
To do this we simply try to get as much Gold as possible with each point of labor we spend.
This is easy to understand if we look at the coin purses dropping from monsters. The gold you
have to input into this method is close to zero but your buff food etc… the conversion rate for
each point of labor you invest is fairly high as besides the Gold you directly get you are
acquiring a bunch of items which can be sold for even more Gold per point of labor, but the
time you need to invest into farming those purses is fairly high. If we think about a Jester which
needs a basic amount of five labor to open and adding this on 1000 labor available you could
open 200 purses.
If we say you can get and open one purse every 30s this would result in:
200 x 30s = 6000s = 100 minutes
However you could spend this 1000 labor in 2-3 minutes into the crafting of items which
would reduce your invested time by a lot while increasing you investment of Gold.
If you say you would farm all items needed to craft by yourself – you are increasing the time
investment again, while having close to the same amount of Gold as input factor.
Wait what? I farmed all those items by myself why is the Gold input still the same?

Well instead of using those farmed items you craft you simply could sell them for the Gold
directly which would decrease the input of labor as well.
By now you should have understood that those three input factors are inseparable, even
if you zero one of them completely as a result either your reward will become smaller
or the other inputs are increasing.
Once you really understand this concept it is fairly easy to think about which method of
creating Gold is the best for you. If you have a lot of time you are looking for methods which
have a high input of time but only low inputs of Gold and labor but if you are only able to play
for a limited amount of time you want to increase the input of Gold and labor to have the same
reward. All you have to do is prioritize you most valuable input factor and start calculation
what would result in the highest reward for each unit of this input.
•
Gold per Minute
•
Gold per point of Labor
•
Gold per invested Gold
As prices of items differ the following numbers are made up!
If you chop down a tree for 10 Labor – and you can sell the resulting wood for one Gold you
would have made 10 Silver per point of Labor. If you mine ore for 10 Labor and you can sell
the resulting rocks/ores for 90 Silver you would only have made 9 Silver per point of Labor.
However if you craft the stones into something and investing e.g. another 10 Labor and you
can sell the result for 3 Gold you have made 15 Silver per point of Labor invested. (20 Labor
total = 3 Gold > 15 Silver)

You always have to keep in mind that you need to think about the average rate of reward for
the same thing. If you are planting trees and you get a thunderstruck every 100 chopped down
trees is this increasing the average reward of the other 99 trees as well. Luck is no factor to
think about in this kind of thoughts as you will minimize the luck by repeating things over and
over if the average reward is high enough for you to keep doing that method of gaining Gold.
There are for big areas in ArcheAge which allow you to create Gold the first three areas are:
1. Crafting & Gathering
2. Grinding & Farming
3. Trade Runs / Fishing

All of this methods require the input of labor and time while most of them also require the
input of Gold. It is highly recommended that you specialize in a few method of create Gold
instead of trying to be involved with everything. First of all a specialized knowledge on a
certain topic will give you a bigger understanding and might allow you to come up with new
ideas of making Gold in this area and in addition to that ArcheAge is supporting this by
lowering your labor costs if you proficiency is high enough and by reducing the time needed to
do certain tasks – simply said lowering your labor and time input while holding the same
reward level!
While you can have a good income playing by yourself you can increase this by teaming up
with other people to increase the amount of resources you have for you input. With e.g. three
people you could create a work chain in which the reward is split between all.
One is specialized in Gathering, the second is a dedicated Crafter and the last member is
doing Trade Runs. Due to the specialization of each member their respective inputs for a
certain task are lower and thus resulting in the same reward but with reduced inputs.
This system can be expanded on a endless amount of people and it is practiced in a lot of
guilds where each member has a specific job.
The 4. method of making Gold is “playing the auction house” which require a lot of time
and a high starting capital to invest but it is also one of the methods that need the least amount
of labor.
If you have understood everything until this point you simply can go playing now and make
Gold! Yet to help you starting we gathered a lot of information about those methods.

Crafting
Input Factors: Gold / High – Time / Low – Labor / High
To make a lot of Gold as a Crafter you need to know the value of your products as well of the
value of your materials. You have to input a lot of labor each craft and thus you need to know
which products you can sell for a high Labor to Gold conversion rate.
If you craft an item for 100 Labor and sell it for 5 Gold while your materials are already
worth 4,5 Gold you only made 0,5 Silver per point of labor!
Make sure you craft only items which sell for a lot more than their materials are worth.

Gathering
Input Factors: Gold / Very Low-High – Time / Low-High – Labor / High
Simply mining Raw Stone is creating a huge income. However the time you need to invest
can greatly change depending what time you decide to go into the mining region.
As all of the players of your faction are using the same mining region you will waste of lot of
time waiting for nodes to spawn. On the other hand if you have enough Gold to claim your
own plot you are able to flexible changing your input factors to fit your current needs. Having
no time this week you grow long growing things while once you have more time you plant
faster growing things. In addition to the materials you gather you also gain Vocation Badges
which you can use to buy stuff like Shatigon’s Blessing to increase you Gold per point of labor.
In addition you can start with using public farms or finding a nice hidden spot for a off plot
farm. Doing this will increase your total reward until you can buy yourself your private plot!

Grinding
Input Factors: Gold / Very Low – Time / Very High – Labor / Medium
If you cannot yet afford your own plot, nor you have interests in Crafting of competing
against other players in the mines you can simply start killing stuff! However you should make
sure that your Gold input in form of buff food and potions is as small as possible to sustain the
highest possible reward. In addition you need to consistently invest time into farming to hold
your level of income.

Trade Runs
Input Factors: Gold / Low-Medium – Time / Very High – Labor / High
Depending on which Trade Packs you are trading with and how much time you invest on
the route you are running the amount of time you invest can be one of the highest of all
methods. In addition you have to make sure be able to defend you goods from Pirates if you
decide to set sail on longer routes. Always having an eye on zones that switch soon into a peace
period can increase your reward by a lot while reducing the risk of losing your packs.
Generally if you want to do efficient Trade Runs you should team up with people you are
trusting to increase your Reward to the maximum.

Fishing
Input Factors: Gold / Medium – Time / High – Labor / High
To really make Gold with fishing you have to invest a lot – not only in your Fishing
Proficiency but also into a fishing boat. However the Gold per point of Labor spend is fairly
high and Fishing in a raid is a lot safer than doing Trade Runs.
Auction House
Input Factors: Gold / Medium-Very High – Time / Low-Very High – Labor / Very Low
There is nothing more lucrative in ArcheAge than being a dedicated auction house trader.
However while the basics of making Gold with the Auction house are fairly easy to understand
you need a lot of advanced knowledge about everything in the game as well as a high starting
capital to fill your stocks with a huge variety of goods or to manipulate the market. You should
also be able to understand the basics of trading (Offer and Demand). Yet if you invest time in
this method you will have the highest reward possible.
