The Ffwrnes
At Theatrau Sir Gâr we are proud of our long-standing relationships with professional, amateur, local
and visiting companies & hirers. We are equally proud of our role in the success of many productions
over the years and firmly believe that behind every successful performance is a solid framework of
contractual and practical ‘people partnerships’ coupled with a strong sense of co-operation and
support developed out of mutual respect and a common goal. This invariably brings out the best in all
of us. With the Main Auditorium, Stiwdio Stepni, Caffi-Bar Cwtsh and foyer areas, the Ffwrnes provides
a unique and memorable venue whatever the technical and front of house requirements of your event
are.
Hirers are advised that availability is not the only criteria. Other key criteria include:





Anti-clash & Programme Balance (to avoid similar events appearing too close together);
Business Case (based on realistic projected attendance figures & income generation);
Technical & Physical Factors (assurance that the Ffwrnes facilities & staff can comfortably
meet the requirements of the event);
Commitment to the ethos of the Green Theatres sustainability agenda (a demonstrable
commitment to sustainable green theatre practice & work/life balance of all);
Audience Development;
Taken together, the hiring charges & criteria are designed to provide a cost effective solution to the
specific needs of your production. Some charges may be liable for administrative and / or handling
fees. For an informal discussion, please give our Programming Unit a call on 0845 226 3510 during office
hours.
The hire charges in this document apply to all categories of hirers based in Carmarthenshire. The
Council reserves the right to increase charges for out of county hirers. Separate hire charges apply to
classes, workshops and participatory activities. Charges for media events, broadcasts, conferences and
special projects are negotiated in line with current market rates. All charges are subject to VAT.

Performance Spaces for Hire
Main House Pre-Production - £55 per hour
Hire of our main auditorium includes:
Main stage, presented as a black box with one stage technician
4 ground floor dressing rooms with easy access to the stage
The Auditorium is offered with traditional theatre style seating.
Please speak to our production team on 0845 226 3510 should you require different seating arrangements.
The minimum hire for our Auditorium is 4 hours. Any additional hours required are charged at an hourly rate.
Main House Public Performance - £85 per hour
Main stage, presented as a black box with one stage technician
4 ground floor dressing rooms with easy access to the stage
The Auditorium is offered with traditional theatre style seating.
Front of House staff in line with the scale and nature of the event
Please speak to our production team on 0845 226 3510 should you require different seating arrangements.
The minimum hire for our Auditorium is 4 hours. Any additional hours required are charged at an hourly rate.
Stiwdio Stepni Public Performance - £35 per hour
Stiwdio Stepni, presented as a black box
Seating designed to suit the individual needs of the production
1 dedicated member of our technical team
2 dressing rooms
The minimum hire for our Stiwdio is 4 hours. Any additional hours required are charged at an hourly rate.
Dressing Rooms - £15 per day
There are 14 dressing rooms available in the Ffwrnes, further information can be found in the technical
specification
Classes & Workshops - £21 per hour
Classes & Workshops can be held on Stage, Main House, Stiwdio Stepni or in the Crochan. Minimum of 3 hour
booking,
In addition to the above, other spaces are also available to hire for meetings, conferences etc, please

Lighting Services for Hire
Main House Basic Lighting Pack - £35 per hour
Lighting consisiting of colour washed and general cover, plus a lighting operator
Follow Spot with Operator - £25 per hour
4 available in the main house - includes a Follow Spot Operator
Follow Spot without Operator - £15 per hour
4 available in the main house
Stiwdio Stepni Basic Lighting & Sound Pack - £35 per hour
Basic sound and lighting configured to your needs, includes a dedicated technician
Sound Services for Hire
Main House Basic Sound Pack - £35 per hour
Play back unit, Sound Desk, FOH speakers, 2 Monitors, Sound Operator
Piano Tuning - £50

Marketing Support & Promotion
The following are included in the hire charges:



One quarter page insert into the brochures
One listing in our weekly local newspaper advert
One listing on the Theatrau Sir Gâr website
We do offer additional marketing support and services such as design and print large posters, direct
mail-shots, E-PR etc. If this is of interest to you please speak with our marketing team and they will be
more than happy to help.
Box Office
All tickets for your production must go through our box office (for more information please see our
terms and conditions). A Box Office commission charge of 5% is applicable.

Hire Categories
Categorisation of hirers is dependant upon the specific business nature & legal status of your
organisation.
Category A - Full Commercial Rate
Commercial and professionally managed organisations.
Category B - 85% of Commercial Rate
Statutory and publicly funded organisations.
Category C - 75% of Commercial Rate
Educational establishments and project partnership organisations funded and or grant aided by
independent public bodies.
Category D - 60% of Commercial Rate
Self-funded not for profit societies and amateur organisations .
Special projects / organisations that do not qualify for the above categories e.g. exhibitions,
conferences, festivals, media projects & weddings subject to separate negotiations.
Charitable status criteria may apply to more than one of the above categories.
The above charges do not normally apply for classes or workshops and the Box Office commission
charge.
