Day 1: Tuesday 20th May 2008
• Depart New York JFK International Airport on British Airways BA182 at 10:30 pm to Zurich International Airport via London’s Heathrow International Airport
• Day 2: Wednesday 21st May 2008
• Arrive in London Heathrow, Terminal 4 and transfer to
Terminal 1 for BA716 at 1:40pm to Zurich where our full
time bilingual Harvard Sports International Tour Escort
meets the group at 4:25pm to transfer by private motor
coach to Frauenfeld.
• Check into Hotel Blumenstein, triple bedded rooms with

• Settle into hotel and then transfer to Field Hockey Club
Grasshopper for light workout. Opportunity to meet staff
and players of your opponent for tomorrow’s match.

Day 3: Thursday 22nd May 2008
Game 1
• Breakfast at the hotel then depart for one of the most panoramic views of Switzerland at the Uetliberg, the king of picnic spots and known as the “top of Zurich.”
• Switzerland’s largest city is surely among the most beautiful in all of Europe,
• and even today, Zurich retains much of its 19th-century charm. Situated on the

northern shore of Lake Zurich in the heart of the country, Zurich is the
capital of a canton of the same name that joined the Swiss Confederation in
1351.
A major center of international finance, Zurich has also long been a great
center of liberal thought, attracting such scholars as Vladimir Lenin, Carl Jung,
James Joyce, and Thomas Mann.
Enjoy a free morning to discover the city, including the Aldstadt (Old Town),
one of the most intriguing in Switzerland, with two giant cathedrals and
dozens of streets ideal for exploring at leisure, as well as the city’s parks and
gardens, with the particularly outstanding botanical garden

After breakfast head south to Aarau. Stop in Aarau for lunch and shopping.
Mini-tour orientation of this lovely village.
Continue to Olten. Lunch on your own. Free time to explore the town on
your own.
Transfer at 7:00pm this evening to the second game of the tour
Game 2: Colgate University vs. Olten I (8:30 pm)
BBQ after the match with club officials, village residents and team members
Return to Hotel
Day 5: Saturday 24th May 2008
Game 3
• Breakfast at the hotel and check out of the hotel
• Transfer to Wettingen in the Interlaken area
• Today the Wettingen Field Hockey Club will christen their newly installed
playing pitch. Wettingen is the Champion field hockey club of the Swiss league.
• This “town between the lakes” (Thun and Brienz) has been a vacation resort for over 300 years. It
is the tourist capital of the Bernese Oberland. Cableways and cog railways designed for steeply inclined mountains connect it with most of the region’s villages and dazzling sights, including the
snowy heights of the Jungfrau, which rises a short distance to the south.
• Game 3: Colgate University vs. Wettingen (4:00 pm)
• Continue to Interlaken and check into Mattenhof Resort (www.mattenhofresort.com)
• Dinner
Day 6: Sunday 25th May 2008
• Breakfast at the hotel
• Depart today for white water rafting within the alpine slopes and
glaciers (not included)
• In the afternoon free time in Interlaken. Your escort will make suggestions
as to activities available in this village.

Day 7: Monday 26th May 2008
• After breakfast leave Interlaken for Lucerne.
• Stop in Lake Lucerne for sightseeing on your own...Opt to board the steamer for a casual and relaxing tour of this magnificent lake or just shop.
• After lunch we continue south, arriving in the beautiful Lake Maggiore area of Northern Italy.
• Check in to Hotel for 1-night triple bedded rooms with private facilities
• Free time and dinner
Day 8: Tuesday 27th May 2008
• After breakfast, depart for Lake Garda and Verona area
• Depart for Verona, Home of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Guided tour of the local attractions
• Lake Garda’s shores are studded with villages and small towns and it is also home to a number of
Roman settlements, medieval fortresses, noble villas, and churches and monasteries of all descriptions
• Pause for lunch in Verona on your own
• Free time to explore Verona. Before Napoleon, Verona was a prestigious city and controlled much
of the Veneto region and as far south as Tuscany. It has a locked-in-time character from its medieval and Renaissance heyday - including the magnificent medieval palazzi, towers, churches, and
piazzas
• Continue to Lake Garda and check in to the local hotel Gestione Hotel Via Pastrengo
• Dinner at the hotel and a free evening by Lake Garda
Day 9: Wednesday 28th May 2008
Game 4
• After breakfast depart for the island city of Venice
• Located on the Adriatic Sea, the magnificent city is comprised of over four
hundred islands
• Transfer by private motor boat to San Marco Island for a guided tour
of the city, including the Doge’s Palace and Bridge of Sighs
• Free time for lunch in your own and to explore Venice
• Later in the afternoon transfer to Padova for tonight’s last match of
the tour.
• Game 4: Colgate University vs Padova (6:00 pm)
• After the match gala pasta party at the club
Day 10: Thursday 29th May 2008
• After breakfast check out of your Lake Garda hotel and depart for Milan. A local guide meets your group at
11:00 am at the fountain of the Sforzesco Castle. Ms. Sacchi will conduct a guided tour of Milan including
the Castle Medici, the Duomo, and much more.
• Lunch on your own and free time to discover Milan
