Cards For 2016
These are the latest photographs of the 8 young people sponsored with funds raised
from the sale of the cards and some of the proceeds from the London Curry Lunch.
Most of the 8 are now teenagers and beginning to think about their futures.
They tell us in their letters how grateful they are for our sponsorship. They write about
school activities, sporting competitions between the Cottages, May Queen
celebrations and about the concerts and plays. Some of the pupils do struggle with the
academic curriculum so we very much welcome the school introducing another course
for those more interested in studying for vocational qualifications. This will help to equip
them better for life after they leave school.
Dr Graham's Homes has had a turbulent year with some senior staff leaving
unexpectedly. However, we are now looking forward to a more settled future as Dr
Gillian Hart, a well-known educationalist in Kolkata, has been appointed as Chairman
of the Board of Governors. A new head teacher, Mr Neil Monteiro, also took up post
in March and a new Principal, Mr Brian Robbins has just joined the school.
We have 2 Christmas cards this year. A new card painted by Annette Mary Radford,
who has recently studied Indian Art, and a reprint of a popular Christmas card by Julia
Cassels which we last sold in 2001. We are grateful to both these artists for allowing
us to use their pictures. We are also selling post cards from the collection of Sophie
Pattinson. Thank you all for continuing to help support these sponsored children and
