2016LC2ContinuousLearning Term4Weeks5-6 Issue Date: Monday 7 November Due Date: Friday 18 November Writing Spelling/ Grammar Continue to learn the EWL words- glued into the front of your CL book. WALT: use exciting vocabulary and varied sentence starters Rewrite this story to improve all the boring sentence starters and connectives. Think about where your sentences will begin and end and replace any boring words or phrases with more exciting vocabulary. The cat ran to the mouse. Then the mouse ran away. Then the cat tried to get the mouse. And he ran after the mouse and the mouse kept running. Then the cat got mad and went over to the mouse. And the mouse was scared and tried to hide from the cat. Here’s an example for you: Sid often sauntered around his neighbourhood late at night and over time all the other animals had come to fear him. To humans he seemed cute and cuddly but to the poor mice and other animals, he was a fearsome hunter… One night while padding lightly along his neighbour’s fence a faint sound emerged from the bush below him. He stilled himself atop the tin fence. Eyes round like saucers and his tail bristling in anticipation, he waited... All of a sudden there was a flash of colour as a small rodent… WALT: build our vocabulary by using a thesaurus Use a hard copy, or online thesaurus to find other words that mean the same as: 1.
