Bringing Up Jessica - Professor Brawn Cafe

Bringing Up Jessica
Join us in this unique session as Rod and Bev Wilson share how their
lives took an unexpected turn when they adopted Jessica, a child (now
speaker
Rod J. K Wilson, PhD
an adult) with special needs. She was born hydrocephalic, has frontal
lobe damage of the brain, starting puberty when she was two, and is
high functioning autistic. The combination of these disabilities has
created a life of challenge and pain for Jessica, Rod and Bev. They will
talk about the challenges they faced in bringing up Jessica and how it
changed their lives. They will share valuable insights on what has
helped in their parenting journey with Jessica.
Rod is President and Professor of Counselling and Psychology in
Regent College, Vancouver. He has been involved in the field of counselling and consulting for
over 30 years. He is the author of Counselling and Community and How Do I Help A Hurting
Friend – both award winning books – and co-author of Exploring Your Anger and Helping Angry
People. He lives in Burnaby BC with his wife Bev.
