Two Bedroom Final Clean Check and Check-out Descriptions
Residents who are completely checking out of Centre Square will need to remove all of their belongings. Returning residents to the
same apartment may leave their belongings provided they are organized in one area and marked with their name.
Do not leave anything behind assuming that someone will want it.
First Person Leaving:
Stove Top
• Allow burners to cool completely.
• Use glass-top cleaner and scrub with a nylon scrub pad. You may use a razor blade for difficult spots and/or use a rag
soaked with vinegar to loosen baked on areas.
• Clean with a wet rag then buff with a dry rag until shiny and smooth across the entire surface.
• Clean stove backsplash.
• Clean top and bottom of vent hood.
• Remove filter and run it through a cycle in the dishwasher to clean it.
• Replace filter.
Oven
• Remove racks and place them in the sink.
• If there is a large spill in the bottom of the oven, clean it up before using the self-clean option.
• Use the self-clean option on the oven. (It takes about three hours, so plan accordingly.) When the cycle is finished, clean
out the ash with a wet rag.
• Scrub and replace racks.
• Pull oven away from wall; clean both sides of the oven and cabinet.
• Clean the wall behind and mop floor beneath.
• Use a dry rag to dust the back of the oven.
Oven Drawer
• Remove items from the drawer and remove the drawer.
• Clean inside and out with a rag and hot soapy water and replace drawer
Pantry
• Empty shelves of all items.
• Clean with warm soapy water.
• Residents who are returning to this apartment for the next semester may put their items back in the pantry provided
they are on one shelf and marked with their name.
Microwave
• Generously spray the inside of the microwave with vinegar.
• Turn on high for 1-2 minutes.
• Allow to sit for 1-2 minutes before opening microwave.
• Clean inside and outside surfaces with a rag and hot soapy water.
• Remove microwave plate and wash in the sink.
• Be sure to clean the shelf under the microwave.
Dishes
• Wash all dishes and unload dishwasher.
Dishwasher
• On the bottom and top rack of the dishwasher, place a bowl upright each with a cup of vinegar.
• Run a full cycle with no other dishes.
• Clean door inside, outside, and sides of door with a hot soapy rag and water.
Doors (Front, Pantry, & Hall Closet)
• Clean doors and frames, including all edges and surfaces, with a rag and multi-purpose cleaner.
• Buff dry and streak free.
• Use a toothbrush or toothpick to remove grime from doorknob ridges.

Second Person Leaving:
Refrigerator
• Clear off the top, front, and sides of the refrigerator removing all stickers, tape, papers, and magnets.
• Clean sides, front, and top with a hot soapy rag. Polish with rubbing alcohol or glass cleaner.
• Remove all food items from the refrigerator.
• Clean with hot soapy rag from top to bottom, drying as you go. Clean the corners, edges, and rubber door seal.
• Pull drawers out and wash and dry.
• If no one is staying in the apartment, all food must be completely removed from the refrigerator.
• Any resident who is staying in the apartment, must bag up his/her items and label the bags/items before replacing them
in the refrigerator. Any perishable items must be disposed of or frozen such as raw meat.
• Anything not labeled and bagged will be thrown away.
Cabinets & Drawers (Kitchen)
• Remove all items from cabinets and drawers.
• Clean shelves, hinges, drawers inside and out, and drawer tracks with hot, soapy water.
• Clean the exterior of the cabinets with a spray bottle with vinegar and a wet cloth, then buff dry.
• Use a dry cloth to buff silver handles on drawers and cabinets.
• Use a dry toothbrush to clean the ledges and hard to reach spots around the handles.
Stools (Kitchen)
• Clean surface of stool with hot soapy water and a rag.
• Buff the metal legs with a dry cloth.
Fire Extinguisher
• Clean with a hot soapy rag and water and dry with a clean rag.
Garbage Can
• Take out the trash.
• Spray garbage can inside and out with disinfecting cleaner.
• Soak and then scrub away any residue or sticky spots.
• Rinse the surfaces and let dry.
• Clean the area behind the kitchen garbage can.
Garbage Disposal
• Clean neck of disposal with rubbing alcohol. If necessary, scrub to remove all the grime that collects.
• Sprinkle some baking soda into the disposal and let sit a few minutes.
• Pour in ½ cup vinegar then run hot water and turn on disposal for one minute.
Countertops & Backsplash (Kitchen)
• Clear countertops.
• Clean surface with multi-purpose cleaner or vinegar and a rag with special attention to the top of the backsplash and
behind the sink. Buff it dry.
• Clean the wall between the cabinet and the backsplash.
Sink & Faucet (Kitchen)
• Remove dishes and other items from the sink.
• Scrub sink with abrasive cleaner; use a toothbrush to clean edges, drains, and sink stoppers. Rinse very thoroughly.
• Polish with rubbing alcohol and a soft dry cloth.
• Dry out sinks with dry cloth.
• Buff chrome to remove water spots on faucet.
• Use a toothbrush or bristle brush to remove hard water at the base of the faucet.

Third Person Leaving:
Bathtub & Shower
• Remove all items from the shower before cleaning.
• Spray entire surface with vinegar; using a scrubbing pad or brush, scrub all surfaces of tub including the tub surround,
paying special attention to the caulking and faucet areas.
• Clean tub exterior and base.
• Rinse completely with warm water. Buff all metal surfaces until shiny and streak free.
• Use a dry cloth to clean the tub and shower to prevent water spots.
Showerhead
• Put a cup of vinegar in a Ziploc bag and secure it around the showerhead with a rubber band or string and leave for at
least three hours or overnight.
Bathroom Vents
• Use a dry rag to clean vent covers above the toilet.
Toilet
• Spray disinfecting cleaner on the outside surfaces of the toilet, paying special attention to the toilet bowl, base of the
toilet, the bolts, and hinges on the toilet seat.
• Spray cleaner (either disinfecting cleaner, vinegar, or toilet bowl cleaner) inside toilet.
• Scrub clean with toilet brush and flush.
• Scrub ring around the inside with a pumice stone until gone.
Cabinets & Drawers (Bathroom & Vanity)
• Remove all items from cabinets and drawers.
• Clean shelves, hinges, drawers inside and out, and drawer tracks with hot, soapy water.
• Clean the exterior of the cabinets with a spray bottle with vinegar and a wet cloth, then buff dry.
• Use a dry cloth to buff silver handles on drawers and cabinets.
• Use a dry toothbrush to clean the ledges and hard to reach spots around the handles.
Mirrors (Bathroom & Vanity)
• Use rubbing alcohol and a clean dry rag to clean mirrors; pay special attention to spots.
• Buff streaks until it is clear.
Door (Bathroom)
• Clean door and frame, including all edges and surfaces with a rag and multi-purpose cleaner.
• Buff dry and streak free.
• Use a toothbrush or toothpick to remove grime from doorknob ridges.
Countertops & Sink (Bathroom & Vanity)
• Clear countertops; clean surface with multi-purpose cleaner or vinegar and a rag.
• Clean sinks, paying special attention to the base of the faucet, and the edge where the sink meets the counter; use a
toothbrush if necessary.
• With stubborn spots, soak in vinegar and then scrub with a scrubbing pad.
• Buff the faucet and sink free of streaks with a dry cloth.
Floors & Rubber Baseboards (Bathroom & Vanity)
• Sweep floors entirely; use a vacuum hose attachment along the edges.
• Clean baseboards with warm, soapy water.
• Mop the floors using a vinegar water solution and a mop; be sure to get edges of floor.
• Where there is hard water residue, soak in vinegar and scrub with a scrubbing pad or brush.

Fourth Person Leaving:
Couches
• Pick up any loose items under the cushions that are too big to be vacuumed.
• Using the vacuum hose, vacuum the cushions, under the cushions, and the exterior parts of the couch.
Coffee Table, End Table & TV console (Living Room)
• Remove everything from the top and inside of the end table.
• Using a multi-purpose cleaner, clean the TV console, coffee table, end table, and inside the drawer.
• A wood polish can also be used to make the wood shiny.
• Discard any extra things from the drawer when replacing items.
Window (Living Room)
• Clean window pane with glass cleaner, vinegar, or rubbing alcohol and a clean dry rag.
• Clean the window sill with a wet rag and then a clean dry rag.
Floor (Living Room)
• Vacuum the floors including underneath the furniture. (Pull furniture away from the wall.)
• Use vacuum hose to vacuum along the wall edges and corners.
Washer & Dryer
• Remove agitator cup and wash it off in the sink.
• Clean out soap and fabric softener residue from agitator.
• Clean out dryer vent and inside of dryer door.
• Clean tops of washer and dryer including ledge, lids, and controls.
• Clean the washer and dryer pan and floor around pan.
Cabinets (Laundry)
• Remove all items from cabinets.
• Clean shelves and hinges with hot, soapy water, and dry with a cloth.
• Clean the exterior of the cabinets with a spray bottle with vinegar and a wet cloth, then buff dry.
• Use a dry cloth to buff silver handles on drawers and cabinets.
• Use a dry toothbrush to clean the ledges and hard to reach spots around the handles.
Hallway
• Remove everything from the closet and clean shelves and walls with a warm soapy rag.
• Use a dry rag to clean the vent cover.
• Vacuum the hall and baseboards, including inside the hallway closet.
• Use vacuum hose to vacuum along the wall edges and corners.
• Remove all hair and string from the roller on the bottom of the vacuum.
• Wash the outside of the vacuum with hot soapy water and change the vacuum bag (if necessary).
• Check to make sure there is a vacuum and ironing board provided by Centre Square in the closet.
Floor (Kitchen)
• Sweep floor entirely; use a vacuum hose attachment along the edges.
• Mop the floor using a multipurpose cleaner and again, be sure to get the corners and edges of floor.
• Multi-purpose cleaner can leave a residue, so rinse with vinegar water to remove the stickiness.
• Clean toe kick plate under the ledge of all the cabinets.
Final Check-out (Whole Apartment)
• During the final walk through of the apartment, remove anything not labeled such as food in pantry, cupboards, fridge,
freezer, and other items such as dishes, cleaning supplies, etc. Check oven, stovetop, bathtub, and agitator on washer.

Bedroom/Bed:
Bedroom should be back to the original arrangement. All students are required to do the following for their own bedrooms:
Closet
• Remove everything from the closet.
• Clean shelves, rod, and walls with a warm soapy rag.
• Clean door and frame, including all edges and surfaces with a rag and multi-purpose cleaner.
• Buff dry and streak free.
• Use a toothbrush or toothpick to remove grime from doorknob ridges.
Desk & Chair
• Remove everything from the desktop and drawers.
• Clean the desktop, inside drawers, drawer tracks, and exterior surfaces with a rag and multi-purpose cleaner.
• Clean the seat and especially the pedestal, legs, and casters with a wet rag.
• Be sure to dry surfaces with a dry rag.
Shelf above Desk
• Use a multi-purpose cleaner and rag to clean the top, sides, and bottom of the shelf.
Blinds
• Close the blinds and clean each slat with a hot soapy rag.
• Open the blinds and use a hot soapy rag to clean the fronts and backs of the blinds.
• Make sure to clean behind the strings.
• After blinds are washed, clean with a dry clean rag.
Window (Bedroom)
• Clean window pane with glass cleaner, vinegar, or rubbing alcohol and a clean dry rag.
• Clean the window sill with a wet rag and then a clean dry rag.
Bed Frame
• Clean the bed frame with a multi-purpose cleaner.
• Be sure to dry surfaces with a clean dry rag.
• Clean area under the mattress.
Mattress
• Clean top, bottom, and sides of the mattress getting in-between the seams.
Mattress Cover
• Wash mattress cover in the washer and hang to dry.
• Once dry, please fold and place on top of mattress.
Doors (Bedroom)
• Clean doors and frames, including all edges and surfaces with a rag and multi-purpose cleaner.
• Buff dry and steak free.
• Use a toothbrush or toothpick to remove grime from doorknob ridges.
Floor (Bathroom)
• Pick up clutter from floor.
• Vacuum thoroughly using the hose attachment along walls and behind the desk and beds (pull all furniture away from
the walls).
• Vacuum inside closets.
