The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is about a young, poor, hunter who fights for
survival against the tributes of districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and her male tribute, to
win the 74th annual Hunger games. Katniss Everdeen the tribute from district 12, has no food or
water and has to survive getting killed. My opinion of the Hunger games 1-10 would be a 10. I
say a 10 because there is very intense fighting (killing) in the book. The Hunger Games happens
every year, and 1 person wins by killing all the opponents. Katniss have never been to the arena
she’s playing in, but she has a lake to her left and a forest to her right. Katniss has mad hunting
skills. It’s a huge problem to be in a place that she’s never been before. This reminds me of the
time that I was once lost in the middle of Mexico with no food, or water, or a grown up! That is
the same as Katniss but she’s not lost. The Hunger Games is about a girl named Katniss who
saves her sisters life to rather have a big chance of losing her own. Katniss is at the first night of
the games, as it was a parade of the tributes in the games. Each district has a male and female
tribute. Both tributes dress up the same as something important to their district (usually).
Katniss and Peeta dressed up as a boy/girl on fire. The game makers (spectators) loved them.
They tried getting them sponsors in the games. The Hunger Games is about a girl who saves
her sisters life and to rather lose her own. Katniss had training, which will improve your skills for
the games. Katniss got an 11 and Peeta got an 8. Katniss got the highest score out of all the
tributes. The games started four days later, Katniss knew any moment could be her life. Katniss
knew the careers were coming to hunt her. The careers were the rich districts 1, 2, 4 and Peeta.
The careers all had spears, swords, food, and water. She had thoughts of her winning the
games, but without Peeta. Katniss didn’t know if he was killed or if he killed anyone. Katniss
later in the games met a 12 year old tribute named Rue. Rue was very clever, fast, and could
hide in trees very well. Rue died a few days later. Katniss killed Marvel from district 1 right as he
killed Rue. Katniss shot an arrow into his throat and Marvel through a spear into Rue. After
Katniss and Peeta were in the last 5-6 people, there was a rule change that two people from the
same district could win the games. The rule changer back later in the games. Katniss shot an
arrow into Cato’s hand while he was choking Peeta, and Peeta threw Cato into the Mutts (giant
dogs who eat humans alive).
On the day of the reeping, Katniss went to hunt animals, to trade at the hob (bakery) to
get food to eat, for her family. Later Katniss went to the justice building to sign up for tessrae
(to get grain and oil). That afternoon, the name was called for the Hunger Games, The Male and
female tribute. Katniss couldn’t breathe, couldn’t talk, or couldn’t move. Katniss ran to Prim
(her little sister) and made her way to the stage and said, “I volunteer as tribute!” Katniss shows
struggles to survive. I know that because she only has a bow, 10-20 arrows, and a good sharp
knife. Another example of Katniss surviving is she has severe injuries of a cut head, a burned
leg, and a tracker jacker sting. One final reason Katniss is surviving because she has barely and
food or water. A reason Katniss is struggling is she hasn’t found a lot of food and water.
Another example of her struggling is she is against Careers who have spears, swords, food, and
water and she doesn’t. One last example of a struggle for Katniss is there are tributes that are
much more fierce and stronger than Katniss.
On the first day of the games, Katniss found a lake and hunted some food. In the story
the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Katniss has to hunt for food to survive. Since she is in the
poor district, and she got the best training score, the other districts try to hunt her first. Katniss
and Peeta both have food, but Katniss doesn’t have any water. Katniss hunted animals for food
in the games, and shared them with the youngest tribute Rue, from district 11. Rue died later in
the games by Marvel (district 1) throwing a spear into her stomach, as Katniss shot an arrow
into Marvel’s throat.
Another struggle Katniss had in the games was health difficulties/problems. I think
Katniss has health struggles because she had a burned leg, which had to be cured by medicine,
knife thrown at her head by Clove (district 2 Cato’s partner), (Cato is a vicious, strong, killer
from district 2, who killed half the tributes in the cornucopia, that is full of all supplies and
weapons). Katniss also had a struggle from a tracker jacker sting (a bee full of really poisonous
venom). She has all those injuries and is struggling from dehydration, and starving to death. It’s
a big problem to have all those injuries and fight through the pain of it.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is about a young, poor, hunter who fights to the
death to win this year’s games. In the Hunger Games, I learned that even if you’re a poor
person, it doesn’t mean you’re bad at sports or school. Also it’s hard to survive as a poor
person. I learned that in the beginning and end of the book. I learned she’s good at stuff even
though she’s poor when she got an 11 in training, the highest score in this year’s training. The
other time I learned that she is good at things even though she’s poor is when she won the
games. Katniss loaded an arrow at Cato, as he was choking Peeta, as he was losing air. Katniss
shot the arrow at Cato’s hand and Peeta threw him off the cornucopia, into the mutts. Hours
later Cato was still combating away at the mutts. Katniss loaded her last arrow, and it hit Cato
right in the Jaw. The cannon fired one last time. The next moment, nothing happened? We’re
the Hovercraft, to pick Katniss and Peeta up, and bring them back to district 12? Then, Cladius
(the games maker) said,” the rule have changed their can only be one victor!” “fight to the
death now! Peeta grabbed his knife out and threw it into the lake. Katniss loaded her bow.
Then took the arrow off. Peeta pulled out the poison berries and said, “1…2…3 and they both
didn’t swallow the berries. Claudius said, “wait!” Please cheer for the winners from district 12! I
learned that it is hard, but not impossible to live life as a poor person.
