Twas the Night of Jesus` Birth

Twas the Night of Jesus’ Birth
‘Twas the night of Jesus' birth, when all through the town,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a cow.
The animals were munching in their stable where,
They hoped that the Savior would soon be there.
And then in a twinkling the star just stopped,
So in each door they simply popped.
To wonder about the Christ child born today,
In the city of Bethlehem, so far away.
The sheep were all nestled down for the night,
While the shepherds made sure that all was just right.
Everyone thought that it was just the same,
as every other boring Bethlehem day.
They saw His mother sitting by his bed,
With Joseph softly rubbing His sweet head.
Their hearts were both filled with great joy,
Of the birth of this very special boy.
When out of the sky there arose such a light,
The shepherds couldn’t look ‘cause it was so bright.
There was a beautiful angel up in the sky,
The shepherds just couldn’t figure out why.
His eyes — how they twinkled! His dimples — how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, His nose like a cherry!
As his visitors awed—He simply laid,
On His mouth there developed a smile as though He wanted
them to stay.
He had a sweet face and a little round tummy,
He kept look up and smiling at his mommy.
The shepherds were scared and they covered their eyes,
The angel told them in a manger there lies.
A baby - the Savior - was born tonight,
In the town of David which was nearby.
The shepherds went off to where the baby lay,
They know they would see the Savior this day.
More rapid than eagles, they ran so fast,
To see the Savior — they didn’t want to be last.
Now Peace! Now Joy! Now Everlasting Life!
On Goodness! On Love! God’s One and Only son!
To the city of Bethlehem! To the door of the stable!
Let’s hurry now and be on our way!
From the dry desert sand, the magi they came,
Following a star, they didn’t know it’s name.
So over the dunes they came from the east,
This long journey they didn’t mind in the least!
It truly was a “Silent Night” in that stable,
And they laughed to themselves, whoever was able.
Each couldn’t believe where he was,
This is so much better than meeting Santa Claus.
They spoke not a word, but wanted to give more than they had,
But they could only adore.
The Wise men gave gold, frankincense and myrrh,
And the animals warmed Him with their fur.
As they all left that place - so holy and mild,
They couldn’t do anything but smile,
They had just seen the Savior - the Christ Child.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a
Good Life!

A Gifted Tongue!
by J.R. Dalton
The tongue - to the doctor it’s just a two ounce slab of mucus membranes enclosing a complex array of muscles and
nerves that enable our bodies to chew, taste and swallow. My, how helpful! It is the major organ of communication that
enables us to articulate distinct sounds so we can understand each other. Without the tongue, a momma cannot sing a
Christmas song to her baby tonight; no parent can speak discipline and love to their child; no pastor could preach the
word at the pulpit, Christians would not be able to witness to the lost and comfort souls.
Seldom do we pause to realize just how valuable the
strong muscle in our mouth really is. A gift from God.
Praise His Holy name. James 3:6-8, “The tongue is a fire
and restless evil and full of deadly poison.” It’s neatly
hidden behind our ivory teeth, ready to bite and
attack.
Daily I witness to people about Jesus Christ, to adults
and young children that are seriously lost in this dark
world we live in today.
You probably just hung your
Christmas tree lights on your
tree and house. Excited to look
at them in the dark of night. As
a Christian, I feel we are the light
of the world. How bright is your
light shining during this holiday
season while you walk daily with
Christ? Do you talk a good talk
with that tongue, “a gift from
God” or do you walk in the path
of Jesus Christ - or darkness?
Just a couple of months ago, my best friend, next to
Jesus Christ, died, my mother, Imogen B. Dalton, age
90. My what a beautiful celebration of momma going
home to the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. Several hundred
gathered to eat, fellowship, tears of joy, heartbroken
and depressed. But God has a plan. We praise God for
all the beautiful Christians this holiday season. We
continue to pray for all of my so called Christian
friends and lost ones that never called me, sent a card
or said, “Hey, J.R., I love you; I’m sorry for your loss.”
Spending years of my life with individuals that called
me friend. Their tongues cast poison.
This Christmas a lot of people throughout the world
will experience a different kind of Christmas. The
snow is falling this Christmas day as I look up and
down the streets of Haughville; the sound of Christmas
songs, and people rushing home putting candles in the
windows, lights upon the tree;. There is no laughter in
this house, like there used to be, just a million little
memories that remind me of my family. It’s just a
different kind of Christmas this year. The fire glowing, I
am dancing under the mistletoe.
I read a letter from Amazing Grace. My little girl is only
asking for blue socks and a robe for Christmas. It won’t
be the same for some of us this Christmas; one less place
setting at the table, one less gift under
the tree. A brand new ache to take the
place of momma. I am wrapping up
all these memories fighting back the
tears. There are voices in the driveway
that leads right out side my door and
we try to make this Christmas like the
ones we had before. As we gather
around the table, I see joy on every
face and I realize that through the
legacies my momma made, It’s time to fill the house with
laughter like it used to be. Just because you are up in
heaven, doesn't mean you are not here with me. It’s just
a different kind of Christmas this year.
My momma truly was my best friend. Oh, how I miss
her. She always spoke a beautiful tongue. Christmas was
her life. Many people call me their friend, but their
actions, “poison tongues” speak loud in their daily walk
this Christmas.
As you set at the table that God has prepared for you,
remember this, “You get out of God what you pour in
him.”
Bless my babies this Christmas day.
Merry Christmas,
J.R. Dalton and Family

Christel House Academy West celebrated Thanksgiving in a
special way this year. They children were given a challenge of
bringing in 300 canned items which would be donated to Dalton’s
Food Pantry and another local charity. IF the children met this goal,
their principal, Mr. Hunt would kiss a turkey. These children
exceeded their goal by 50 cans! Here is a picture of Mr. Hunt kissing
the turkey!
Thank you to Morgan County Food Rescue who
donated 750 coats to be given away during Thanksgiving.
What a great blessing you were to many in giving the hope of
a warm winter.
It’s hard to believe that Christmas is almost here. In fact, by the time you get this
newsletter, you’ll have less than 10 days before Christmas! Christmas at the pantry is going
to be on Saturday, December 20. We ask that you please consider how you might help
us this year. No gift is too small. We plan to serve hundreds of children this year and
quite honestly, we can’t do it without you and your support! We realize finances are tight
for everyone, including those who stand in our lines every Saturday! Can you give a Gift of
HOPE this year in honor of one of the children who have so little? We’re not asking for
much, a $5.00 - $10.00 gift or donation will help! Donations can be dropped off at the food
pantry, 3326 W. 10th Street or either tire store, 3519 W. 10th Street or 2728 W. Washington
Street.
We have accomplished so much in 2014 and we are grateful for your love, encouragement and support. Your gift to us for
2015 could be your continued prayer and financial support. We have big plans for 2015, however we need YOU to help us
so we can realize our dreams and visions of helping people in daily need. We know you have a choice of who to support,
so as you are thinking about year end contributions, I’m asking you to please consider Dalton’s Food Pantry. Every
donation is fully tax deductible; you will receive a letter of confirmation and an itemized year end statement of your
support.
