Bancroft at Burlington:
Bancroft at Burlington offers Structured Day Program and Community Employment opportunities for
individuals who are 21 years old and older and who have been diagnosed with intellectual and
developmental disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorders and who may present with challenging
behaviors. Services are designed to promote personal growth and independence, as well as active
involvement in the community through recreational, volunteer, and employment activities. Bancroft
provides curb to curb transportation services to and from the program for individuals who qualify for
transportation funding and are within the catchment area.
Day and Employment Services:
The Structured Day Program offers a variety of groups that focus upon customized skill building and
recreational activities that are tailored to each individual’s needs and abilities. This is accomplished in
highly structured and supervised setting. Activities include:

Day Enrichment focuses upon strengthening abilities and skills while increasing independence in
daily activities.
● Lifelong Learning focuses upon applying skills and knowledge in real world experiences through
community based leisure activities and volunteerism.
● Career Exploration promotes an individual’s work readiness skills. By sampling various jobs an
individual works to increase their time on task, identify vocational interests and build their
resume.
● Employment Preparation consists of a group of individuals who are actively volunteering or
working with the support of our staff. The focus is to fully develop appropriate social skills and
self-management
The Employment program is designed for individuals who demonstrate increased independence, a
desire to work and can be supported in a less intensive staffing ratio. Activities include:

Transitional Supported Employment works to bridge the gap to competitive employment by
providing both social and production skills through community based internships and
entrepreneurial endeavors.
Bancroft Employment Enterprises offers opportunities for individuals to earn a wage and
continue to build necessary skills for successful competitive employment. Employment
experiences include printing and office support services, organic farming, landscaping, handmade gifts. laundry, delivery and clerical services.
Competitive and Supported Employment provides assistance to individuals in obtaining and
maintaining competitive employment in the community.
Admissions:
Eligibility for funding for adult services is determined by NJ Department of Developmental Disabilities or
the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services. Private pay is also an option to obtain services. All
referrals must be received by the Bancroft admissions team directly from a Division of Developmental
Disabilities approved Supports Coordinator. Families may use this Supports Coordinator link to seek

Admissions Timeline:
All admissions to the program are considered carefully in order to identify each person’s support needs
and determine if an admission is appropriate. The admissions process commonly takes 30-90 days and
in some extenuating instances may require additional time. The typical process for admissions to the
program is outlined below.

Initial referral received by Bancroft admissions from the Supports Coordinator
Records reviewed by Bancroft to evaluate support needs and determine if an in-person
screening should be completed. Records needed for review:
○ Individual service plan (Ex. IEP or IHP)
○ Most recent medical information (Neurological, Psychological, and annual physical)
○ Most Recent Evaluations (OT, SLP, PT, FBA)
○ Behavior Plans, data and or graphs where available
● In-person screening will be conducted to identify if Bancroft is able to meet the individual’s
needs. Screenings are typically 1-2 hours and held at the day program site.
● The Bancroft screening team will meet to determine if an admission is appropriate
● If the family/individual would like to proceed with an admission, the Supports Coordinator will
assist with securing funding
● Once funding is secured, an admission date is identified.
