We had a go at describing this setting in
preparation for our own adventure stories.
As day broke the dark, misty sky covered the bright colourful rainbow, which cascaded over the top
of the ruined castle. Black clouds rumbled with rain that splashed on the green grass. Lightning
struck. At midnight the graves stood silently. The pink flowers gleamed like pearls whilst the silky
petals fell to the golden grass. Emily Hayward-Reed
Grey stones crumbled from the building whilst the sun shone brightly. Up in the air were dark black
clouds. Next to the giant underground dungeon, the red guards watched. Lennon Smith
Quickly grey gates opened and scattered around were bones of a skeleton. The bright rainbow shone
and the clouds came across the sky. Kennadie Davis

We thought about how we can
use our senses to create
suspense in a story.

smelt something toxic. I backed away from the smell and screamed, but nothing came out. A gate
opened… Was someone coming in? I didn’t dare move. Something grabbed me. I screamed and
kicked the figure and rushed to the entrance. It had gone… I was trapped. Lola Bonser
As I entered the abandoned cave I could hear the rusty, old gates smashing. I touched some red,

the door and gasped… Charlotte Bass

Finally we were given a very boring adventure story and
asked to improve it, using the techniques we have been
practising!
At sunset Blackbeard hatched an evil plan. The island that he lived on was the Caribbean. Golden
sand was scattered in front of the crystal blue sea, which glimmered in the moonlight. Around the
island, palm trees, which had long spiky leaves, had coconuts that hung from the branches.

from. One night the fiendish pirate found an old, slightly ripped treasure map inside an old chest. It
led to a chest of treasure, He wanted that treasure. He carefully hopped on his wooden boat, which
