7th Grade will have a series of fundraisers – 1. On January 31st, the 7th grade will
be selling baked goods at the home basketball games. 2. We are also doing a 50/50
raffle! We are also doing a fundraiser to go along with the NFL Playoffs and Super
Bowl! At snack, during the NFL Playoffs, there will be football themed cookies for sale!
We are also looking to do a Valentine Gram sale! More information will be coming soon!
All money from these fundraisers will be going to the 7th grade class! 3. Please contact

[email protected] if you are interested in either donating or selling items.
Washington DC – The 8th grade will be attending Washington DC May 18th – 21st. The
third payment of $150 is due on January 24th with the final $150 due on March 28th.
Anyone interested in being a Washington, D.C. chaperone must contact Christine
Hebert at ext. 221 or e-mail her at [email protected]. After she compiles her list she
will contact you to have a chaperone meeting. Do not assume that your name is on the
list – contact her as soon as possible. The chaperone meeting will be on January 19th
starting at 6:30 pm. We will have a mandatory meeting for all parents on March 10th
at 6:30 pm.
Chili Cook Off - We will be serving Chili, cornbread, nachos with cheese, hotdogs, and
desserts. Anyone able to help can email Kim MacLeod at [email protected]. This
event will be held on January 19, 2011 at the EMS vs. Newmarket Basketball Game.
Prices will be: $2.00 for a bowl of Chili with cornbread; $2.00 Nachos with Cheese; $1.00
Hotdogs. Come join us for some great basketball and wonderful food!
Cancellation – The workshop “Becoming a Love and Logic Parent” has been postponed
because of limited responses. You can call or e-mail Melissa Swirbliss
[email protected] or 679-8003 x103 if you are interested in attending future classes.
The American Sign Language Club is back! Come join the quietest after school club
to learn and practice American Sign Language skills! We will be focusing on the ASL
alphabet, basic vocabulary, and Deaf culture. Come join us on Tuesdays January 25th,
February 1st and 8th, after school, from 2:30-3:30pm! Any questions, comments or

Snowshoeing - To encourage healthy activities for our students, the middle school is
continuing our Adventure Club into the winter of 2011. The program will be held on
Wednesdays beginning January 19th thru February 16th. The program is open to all
middle school students. I look forward to another exciting outdoor program with the
students of EMS. – Mr. DeGruttola
Art Club meets afterschool from 2:30-4:00PM. In January we will be meeting on
1/25. We are planning on making crafts for Valentines Day……join us!
6th Grade Fundraiser - The 6th graders will be selling personalized car window decals
to raise money to defray the cost of an upcoming major field trip (Natures Classroom).
For every $10 decal that a child sells....$5.00 for each one sold will be put into that child's
own fund to defray the cost of the field trip. All money collected should be turned in to
their homeroom teacher.
Homework Club - Mrs. Thompson and Ms. Hebert will be offering Homework Club on
Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:30 to 3:30. Students should meet in the Middle School
Lobby by the bench for a teacher to escort them to the computer lab. Please contact Ms.
Hebert at ext. 221 with any questions.
American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days - Students are working in conjunction
with The American Cancer Society on their annual Daffodil Days campaign. Place your
order today for a fresh bouquet of ten daffodils for $10, Bear and a Bunch which
includes Liv N. Hope, the ten-inch collectible 2010 Boyds bear with a daffodil bouquet for
a donation of $10, potted daffodil bulbs have three mult-stem bulbs in a pot for $15, Gifts
of Hope which provide bouquets anonymously to cancer patients in our community, and
Bear Hugs for Hope which provide Daffodil Days bears anonymously to children
impacted by cancer. If you would like your child to participate in this campaign, please
send Ms. Weisberg an email or note providing your permission. All orders and money
are due by February 23. Flowers and gifts will be delivered during the week of March
14.
Please have your student check lost and found. We have lots of clothes in the box in
the Middle School Main Office. We will be donating the items to Goodwill soon.
