A place YOU can belong!

Anyone with kids has been had this conversation: “How was church today? “ then the kids responded “It was boring /
just ok.” And later after secretly observing, we discover them participating and having a great time. It was then clear
to see their reluctance to admit they had a good time stemmed from their fear of not looking cool to some of their
peers. Are we similarly afraid to get too excited about spiritual things? Truly there is nothing more worth being excited
about than Christ and his amazing gift to us. Jesus said “ I have come that they might have life, and that they may
have it more abundantly.: (John 10:10) No matter our age, we have a gift from the savior worth celebrating!

A N o te from the Pas to r
Well, summer is in full swing and
it is getting hot! The bad news is
that it will get hotter! We had a
great VBS and now that July is
here, things will slow down as
people are on vacations and
summer outings. At church, we
are officially in the “summer
slump.” We probably won’t get
back to full attendance until the
end of August or beginning of
September. But, the summer
slump just means that you have a
lot of active families. Keep our
church family in your prayers as
they travel. Now, I want to turn
our attention to some exciting
things coming up in the next few
weeks and months. We have
kicked off the My Hope with Billy
Graham campaign. We have
about six families committed to
host Matthew parties in
November. I am hoping that as
we move through the summer
and continue to think about
those that need Christ, that we
will have others to sign up. My
hope is that we can have a dozen
Matthew parties by the time
November gets here. Some have
said that they would host a party,
but that they just don’t know any
lost people. Let me tell you, if
you commit to host a party, the
Lord will put people in your path,
or lay them on your heart. You
will probably have people occur
to you that you might not ever
have considered. A part of My
Hope is allowing the Holy
Spirit to work in YOUR life.
God is more interested in your
willingness than He is in your
estimation of what you think
you can or cannot do. I believe
we are facing an incredible
opportunity for God to move
in our nation – but also even
here in Citronelle. Another
thing I am excited about is our
Christmas program which we
will start rehearsals for on
August 6th. I have been so
concerned about what we
would do for Christmas this
year, and I dreamed the story
on a Monday night. Tuesday
afternoon the music came in a
preview kit and the music fit
the story so well. We are
calling it “A Fairy Tale
Christmas.” It will be about
God creating a world and
creating a man in that world
named Pinocchio. But
Pinocchio is not interested in
serving God, so he becomes
less than real. Finally, God has
to send His Son, Jesus, into this
world to give Pinocchio and all
like him the opportunity to
truly become real. The irony of
the story is that we are all like
Pinocchio and none of us
become “real” until we
surrender our lives to Jesus.
So, it is not so much of a fairy
tale after all. I hope you will get
excited about this opportunity
to share the gospel in our
community and come be
involved. Christmas rehearsals
will be on Tuesday nights starting
August 6th. Sundays will continue
to be our normal FBC Worship
Choir rehearsals. I am excited
because I believe this Christmas
will provide a new fresh way to
present the gospel and I am
praying that we will see many
people saved. One of our ladies
made the comment that this is a
story than even a child will be
able to understand. Pray that
God will use our voices and
talent for His glory and His
kingdom. Out target dates for
the Christmas presentation are
December 6 and 7. To stay up to
special date on Christmas Choir
plans, visit our
website at
CitronelleChristmas.com.
God Bless You!

Throw a party for Jesus!
Matthew was so excited when he met Jesus that
he threw a party for his friends giving an invitation
with eternal implications. Consider hosting your
own Matthew Party or maybe even team up with
someone to host. Parties will be in November so
there is plenty of time to prepare. If you are not
hosting or are still undecided, PRAY! Pray for all
involved. Please See Pastor Charpie for more info.

Cindy Turner, CDC Director
As we prepare for our new school year. We begin praying for our plans—to
follow the way God will direct us. So far this year, our new verse and slogan will
be “What A Great Day To Be At The CDC” - Psalm 118:24 “This is the day the
LORD has made let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Each day brings new adventures,
we pray that we can rejoice in each moment, say “What A Great day…” and a
part of this growing ministry at FBC.
We have opened up new programs—Mother’s Day Out and 3&4K 1/2 day. We feel that this
will open more doors for us to minister to more families in our community. Please hold us up
in prayer as we focus each day on being a steward of God.
In Christ Love—Cindy

Rev. Greg Hrinsin, Pastor of Students and Children
We must learn that whatever we give up for the obedience and glory of God has tremendous potential to be turned
into a miracle that will not only bring freedom and deliverance to us, but to others as well. As Moses threw down
the rod, it was almost like a throwing down of his past efforts, abilities, and works. Then, God began to work
miracles, and in the picking of it back up, God was preparing Moses to see powerful miracles as now HE was the one
in control! Allow GOD to move and use you with His abilities and not our own. Remember we can do all things
through Christ who strengthens me. In Christ—Greg
