In addition to the hard work of my Committee
Members, the Club owes a great deal of appreciation
to Ms. Stephanie Bulone who was appointed to the
new job of Director of Membership. Ms. Bulone is a
tireless worker who has been implementing new
strategies to attract and retain new Members, in
coordination with our stated policies of admissions.
Her industry and pleasing personality helped to
jumpstart our successful year.
As you will recall, in 2015 the Committee oversaw
the implementation of our Club Ambassadors
Program. The Program was designed to create a path
to membership for individuals who do not know
Members who can serve as their Sponsor or
Seconder. This is often the case when a person is
new to the area or does not live on Staten Island.
The Ambassador Program is hard at work once again,
and our Ambassadors have begun to interview a new
candidate who we hope will be joining our Club in
the coming months.
This Program, along with the various Membership
Drives, helped to attract many new Members,
including many young people, thereby bringing the
average age of our Club Member down to be closer
in line with many other clubs of our size, as was
suggested by the consultants who were hired by the
Club.
A brief introduction to each new Member follows.
The Admissions Committee had one of the busiest
and most productive years in recent memory. The
Committee’s hard work and dedication resulted in the
largest number of new Members in the past few
years.
The Committee Members who were
responsible for this are John Alexander, Glenn
Carpenter, George Curis, Mary Gormley, Ralph
Lamberti, Charles LaRocca, Jeff Palmese, Colleen
Sorrentino and Dr. Nicholas Santoriello, and they
deserve our gratitude.
Dr. Santoriello, who was the longest-sitting
Admissions Committee Member and a stalwart
Member who carefully reviewed and questioned the
credentials of each candidate, resigned from the Club
at the end of 2016. He will be sorely missed. His
replacement, Dr. Vincent Frazzetto, will be taking
over as the Committee Chair upon the expiration of
my term.

2017
I am pleased to report that 2017 is off to a great start.
As of this writing (April 1, 2017), five new Members
have already joined our Club. We also have one
candidate who has been posted and one candidate
who has already met once with our Club
Ambassadors. Other candidates are in the late, mid
and early stages of the Admissions process. The year
is starting off on a very positive note and with your
support could well turn into another banner year for
Admissions. Remember, a healthy roster benefits us
all.

On a final note, since my term on the Board of
Directors has expired, I can no longer remain in the
position of Admissions Chair. I enjoyed my years of
service in that capacity and was very happy to have
contributed, in a small way, to the growth and the
healthy preservation of our great Club. Although I
will miss working with the many Club Members who
serve as Sponsors and Seconders to bring new
Members into Club, I will miss working with the
dedicated Members of my Committee most of all.
Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity
to serve this great Club of ours.
